This type of Doper gives me THE SICK!

I kind of see where you are coming from, if I see a post that seems inappropriate to the forum I just report it to the moderator with a note. Why even need to make a post in the thread? Well unless you get some sort of prize after 10k posts.

Syphilis, perhaps.

It means someone has removed his intrinsic field.

Anyhoo, I can easily understand a “this belongs in another forum” comment, if the person making the comment doesn’t feel that the most fitting responses to the question are appropriate to the forum chosen by the OP. For example: “I have a general question about the Republican party; why are they so dumb?” An experienced doper will know that jumping in with opinion or vitriol is not appropriate while the thread is in GQ, and will wait until the thread is moved appropriately. Throwing in a small note to the OP that in future it would same time if similar threads started in the right forum seems appropriate enough to me.
In this particular case, the OP of this thread chose his forum wisely, because I can perfectly appropriately call him a crybaby dumbass in a prompt manner.

Schmuck.

Yeah, it probably is a little harsh. How 'bout Bubastis is a bombastic fuckstick?

Well, the first is a direct question- I wanted the name of a self-diagnosis site. Right there in the title. Second, that thread was moved by a mod, which I have no problem with. However, given that it was A WRITING THREAD (right there in the thread title, pal) I felt that I posted it in the right forum, CS.
Are you people getting louder, or dumber? Read my OP. My problem is with the pathetic assholes who chime in with “This is in the wrong forum, I feel its my duty to inform you this is in the wrong forum, wah wah wah”. Report the post to a mod, I have no problem. Mention it in the thread, without anything else to add, thats what gets my goat (another colloquial term, has very little to do with goats, or sex with goats, or anything like that, before anyone makes smart).

Oh, and Elhtilirist, thanks for helping me with my GQ thread. Much appreciated, I’ve let the mods know how helpful you are, especially outside the pit.

Exactly my point, thanks. Of course, you put it a lot better than I did, I’ll admit that. Sometimes, when I’m misted, I cant really put my ideas across as clear as I would like. I rant and swear and bitch. Perhaps I can hire you as a form of translator, for when I go batshit again? You can translate it into, you know, english.

Or just a slow learner.

Keep it in the pit. Also, read the OP on that thread. Carefully. Get an adult to help you with long words. Any particular phrase pop out? That might suggest it is you that is the wrong here?

Jesus, you’re a humorless, whiney fuck, aren’t you?

Here’s a big bonus clue for you, asshole: the thread Jackmanii linked to ain’t a Great Debate. It’s a General Question. Learn the difference, you fucking imbecile, before you throw another shitfit about people politely pointing out the obvious to you. Considering your staggering lack of mental acuity, it’s going to be something that happens to you with great regularity.

I may have been too hasty in dismissing light bulb perils as a subject for Great Debates - after all, there are unstated political overtones to this subject.

Conservatives might argue that, regardless of the possible hazards associated with filament burnout in a live circuit, it is not the function of a nanny-state to pass relevant consumer regulations, and that the market should rule.

Liberals might counter that it is indeed appropriate for government to recognize the dangers (which are potentially more severe than the hazards of disease presented by towel litter in public restrooms), and mandate a prominent warning to be printed on every bulb in the event of burnout.
There is potential for a meaty debate here.

I apologize.

No I’m not, I’m a fucking hoot! Maybe you have no sense of humour, you PRICK!

It’s not spelled “hoot”.
You forgot the w at the front (admittedly it is silent).
Only one “o”
You accidently hit “t” instead of the letter to the left of it [r] (very easy to do when typing quickly.)
Another silent letter got you - the e at the end.

But we forgive you.

I think people will make the post letting others know they have reported the topic even though they don’t explicitly say “I think this topic is in the wrong forum so I have reported it.” Generally they will just say that they think the topic is in the wrong forum. This stops others from reporting and having the mods become inundated with reports. Someone earlier said this.

Yeah, that was me, back in post #36:

But that’s OK, I’m used to having my posts ignored in the Pit. They have that invisible Reasonable Font on them. Perhaps if I inserted a few fucksticks they would be readable.

Why does your post have such an air of dreadful toadying about it? I’m guessing it must be some misguided attempt to kiss the collective ass of the “smart” people and/or the moderators. Whether bubastis is an nonentertaining moron or not, that alone has never IME been grounds for a banning. Clearly, if that were the case you wouldn’t be posting. Whether you agree with the OP or not, he wasn’t trolling or being a jerk and those are (supposedly) the only real grounds for banning.

So bubastis, do you think this could possibly be the reason people post those comments? Maybe they aren’t there just to piss you off and they actually serve a purpose.

Ok, that I can live with. I just had the image of some busy bastard waiting around for a thread to appear in the “wrong” forum so he could swoop in and display his brilliance for pointing this out. If I post a thread in the wrong forum, which, it would appear, I have done very recently(!) I dont mind it being moved somewhere it might get a better response. It makes sense that, if you report it to the mod, you leave a post that says so. I’ll try not let it piss me off so much in future. I just hate busy bastards.

Oh, and Brian Ekers, was pretty steamed reading this thread, so I only just got your Intrinsic Field gag…LOL.

Cheers you guys! You guys are the best!! Now go check out my remakes thread, fucksticks! :stuck_out_tongue:

I, for one, was jsut trying to piss him off, and my posts served no purpose.

Ha HA!

j/k.

No, nothing he’s done so far is grounds for banning. But I think Derleth’s point is that bubastis is, judging from his behavior so far, the sort of unstable idiot who tends to get banned after having a gigantic meltdown over some trivial perceived slight. Look how completely irrational he acted because someone posted “I think this thread should be in GQ, btw.” What’s he going to do when someone disagrees with him more forcefully, and on a matter of substance? Especially since he seems incapable of understanding what sort of posts are appropriate to which forums. Not much of a stretch to assume his general incompetence will extend to comprehending such difficult concepts like, “No name calling outside of the Pit.”

Nah, wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see him do something dumb(er) that gets him a beatdown with the banning stick.
