[sorry its a little late]
I can’t think of a better weekend of footabll on record. There was a myriad of great games, happily all of which seemed to be televised in my area. The sweetest factor was showing complete domination of our neighboring states.
Game 1: Illinois 42 Indiana 35
My Alma Mater laying the wood to the Hoosiers in a shootout. It wasn’t pretty but it was damn exciting.
Game 2: Northwestern 54 Michigan 51
I hope some non-local fans got to see this game, its going to rank up there as one of the 3 greatest games I’ve ever seen for a long time. Out ranks the Kordell Stewart hail mary in the Colorado-Michigan game by a landslide. My emotions were a rollercoaster and I am still exhausted after watching it. As excited as I am to see the hometown team win, I’m more excited that Michigan lost…Muck Fishigan!
Game 3: Plainfield 41 Elgin 38 (2OT)
Yeah, so sue me, I still love high school football. Anyways, my Alma Mater is undefeated (first undefeated regular season in history), beat all of our big rivals. Beat the school which won 3 of the last 5 6A State Championships in the first round of the playoffs and are ranked 6th in the state over all going into the Quarterfinals for the first time in history. This game was flat out awesome, big comeback to send it to overtime, seesaw battle in the fourth quarter before missing a 52-yard field goal which would have won it by just inches hitting the crossbar and then finally putting the powerhouse away in double OT.
Lets just say Saturday was a hell of a good day.
Game 4: Chicago 27 Indianapolis 24
Hmmmm, do you think those Hoosiers are cursing us this week? Our lowly Bears upset quite convincingly (the game wasn’t this close) one of the best teams in the league. An onside kick at the end making it exciting, the biggest bonus being the fact this happened to be the one game I had tickets for this season. Gotta love being at the first home win of the year.
Game 5: High and Mighty 46.75 Edmonton Smugglers 41.19
Hehe, even with all the exciting games this week my Fantasy roster has been really struggling and getting hurt. As I sit in Soldier field I’m keeping tabs on the scores around the league, seeing the totals, but having no idea if my players are getting the stats. I get home to watch highlights and see that my QB is doing terrible, my RBs are struggling and my WRs and TEs are playing in low scoring field goal battles. I assume that I have no prayer but low and behold my opponent has an even worse week and on the shoulders of my kicker and one WR I claim the victory to get me to .500 and a shot at the post season.
Yes, I watch entirely to much football, but its my vice and I like it!
