It is also possible that some Cafe Society threads were counted, though I tried to take them out when I decided it was time to stop and do something productive.
The period considered is any thread with a last post between 12:00am 10/4 and 11:59pm 10/14. See my previous post for details. For the combined fora list, I have upped the minimum qualification to three killed threads in the period.
Some very high numbers resulted from people experiencing a very recent burst of activity after a long period of no activity since registering.
The first list gives our top twenty killers. To weed out flash-in-the-pan mercenaries, I have limited the list to assassins with at least 700 posts. The second list give the complete results.
There are currently approximately 90,000 threads, 18,600 users, and 1,658,700 total posts. Let’s assume the 80/20 rule, so 80% of those posts were done by 20% of the people.
That gives us 72,000 threads, 3,720 users, and 1,327,000 total posts. For simplicity, lets consider each of those threads kills, giving us 72,000 assassin posts.
That is 19.35 kills person and 356.72 posts per person. This is a baseline kill efficiency of 5.4.
Now, I’ve given this entirely too much thought and am going to go do something indicating the presence of a life in my life.

And personally, I think I deserve to be allowed in that top-ten group. I don’t have over 700 posts, okay, but I’ve not been a “flash in the pan mercenary.” It’s just that I only reply to threads now and again. Don’t have a high enough opinion of myself to be throwing my voice into the fray all that often. Give me time, I’m sure I’ll keep slaying threads all the way up to 700…
One semi-valid question, though, obfusciatrist. How do I get the second ranking spot even though I obviously only have the third-highest score? Is this a poll-driven thing, like college football rankings?

I kill fully 10% of the threads that I post to. My ability to make a thread die will never cease to amaze me. The majority of my kills come in GQ, so I figure I am just naturally the final authority on things…but watch out, I’ve had some pit kills – this thread could be on its way to extinction!

Sorting error, BigGiantHead, simple sorting error. Though I am sure that if you try hard enough you can earn the second spot.
SDP, that is why I used the 700 post rule as slightly more valid. The whole equation assumes that a person posts are generally spread through the entire period of their membership. By your date and posts, you should have about 5 posts per month. You have at leas the 10 kills you mention in a two week period. You were posting way over your historical norm, skewing the results badly. This is what I meant by flash in the pan, simply that your posting activity in the considered period was way above normal. Not that you would be gone quickly.
I’m not just a thread killer, but any threads I start get two replies maximum.

One of the reasons, i think, I’m a threadkiller is because the meat of the thread happens while I’m asleep, and I wake to add my lonely view long after everyone else has moved on.
I killed just about every thread I ever posted in, and I think I deserve to win this prize because I even killed some that I NEVER posted in, just by THINKING about posting on them. I’m not proud of it, but I think of this as a small but deserved consolation prize for being so boring.
P.S. If this thread dies now, you’ll have absolute proof of my “ligamenicide” superiority. Or do I mean “inferiority”?

About 12 hours without a post after my last post on this “thread killer” thread! Do I get a prize? What is the prize? Can I get to pick my own prize?
See?? Need more proof?? I RULE. Ruling this bit of thread killing is marginally better than ruling nothing at all. I think I deserve at least an Ode to a Fine Threadkiller as a prize. Since this is in the Pit, I’m sure I need remind noone that “fuck” rhymes with “lame duck”, and “felch” rhymes most admirably with “belch”. <insert smiley>
