I got a copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 from my kids for Christmas. The software is giving me fits, and I can’t figure out what could be the problem. I had no problem loading the game or creating a player. The game has several modes of play: practice, tournaments (3 types), lessons, and scenarios. I can play in the practice mode all I want, on any course, and skip around at will - no problems. When I try to play any other mode, however, the video freezes. In tourney play it usually happens at the same point in the round but that point varies with the type of tourney (ex. - always feezes at the 2nd hole in one type of tourney, the 9th hole in another type). I have not been able to get any practice or scenario mode to work, each freezes immediately. In every case when screen freezes the task bar/swing button is not displayed at the bottom of the screen. Also in every case, the audio continues as normal. I can click where the swing button ought to be and hear the shot sounds and announcer comments. IOW, the program itself continues but the screen shot never changes.
My PC (an HP running an AMD 1.8 gig processor, 512 RAM, 256 video memory) exceeds the system requirements by at least double in every catagory. It seems to me that, if it were a simply video card issue, I would not be able to play in practice mode. I have the game up for “peak performance” (as opposed to “best graphics”) and have tried shutting down all background apps before starting the game. Neither helps. I emailed EA Sports tech support 3 or 4 days ago, but have not gotten an answer.
Anyone have any insight as to what may be causing the freezes? I have had some trouble with other EA Sports software on this system, but eventually got it to run. This one has me stumped.
