A search of the archives turned up nothing more recent than 2003—so here I am.
It’s not for me – my sister is getting a divorce (yay, but that’s another thread) and moving into her own place, and I’m setting her up with one of my old computers. She has e-mail at work, but she’ll need dialup to get it at home and maybe do a little surfing now and then (probably not much, with two preschoolers 50% of the time).
I’ve looked at NetZero and Juno, which both have access numbers in her city. Looks like we’re looking at proprietary software and a 10-hour monthly limit. Some NetZero users warn that it’s a dog on slower computers, which definitely describes the computer she’ll be using.
Any thoughts or suggestions? For all I know, after a bit she may be able to sign up with a real ISP, either a local or maybe the pay versions of these two or something else.
Input will be appreciated! Much grass.
While it won’t work for you, anyone who lives in WA can access Nocharge.com. Awesome service, and no ads. You can even dial-up with the Windows dialer.
This one also will not work for you, since you are not in MD, but: Sailor Internet Services
I cannot recommend any of these outfits, since I just turned them up using Google™, but you can check on the outfits listed on the following sites:

If you see something that looks promising, do a Google™ search on their name to see if anyone is praising or condemning them.
Thanks, tomndebb, I’ll check those out. So far a lot of the reviews I’ve read are along the lines of “NZ is teh suxx0r OMFG!!!1111!1” so I’m inclined to take those with a large dose of Morton’s.
You other two: Hardy har har!

What am I missing here? The title of the thread is Time for another round of “Recommend a Free ISP”, not “Recommend a Wisconsin Free ISP”, so our posts, while off topic of the OP, are on topic of the natural reading of the tile, and thus are valible info for those how enterbaised on the title.
On the other hand, perhaps I am reading the smilies wrong, and I should not be equating the last post with a mocking laught, or take the least offense.
