Everybody add an extra scoop in their coffee, it’s the post spring forward coping day. I’m up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s currently 60 degrees Ferret Height(15.556 Centipedes] Off to heave, [Linda Richman]Talk amongst yourselves[/Linda Richman].
First! Woot!
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/46f with a predicted high of 13c/55f and cloudy. Weather app says “There are a fucking shit ton of clouds up in the sky. That’s it.”
We don’t change our clocks until 29th March so you’ll be in the future by yourselves until I join you at the end of the month ![]()
5th of April for me, ages away.
The site has been unusually quiet these past few hours, is everyone all confuzzled by Daylight Saving?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 82 and cloudy. TWPTB say we will have a cool down beginnin’ Thursday. We shall see. Not much shakin’ today. Really nowhere either of us wants or needs to be, which is fine for RDOS’s such as ourselves. Even sup will be slack as all that needs to be done is nuke leftovers.
All y’all who are dealin’ with DST and irk, well, better thee than me. Hope the extra caffeine or whatever it takes helps.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Moanday Y’all!
It’s only 0715 as I start writing and while I’ve been up about an hour, I only just got to my computer. Can’t speak for anyone else, but I suspect some are still abed.
OMG!! I mentioned the salted caramel cream cheese spread yesterday - such decadence in the morning!! We’ve decided rather than bagels, it deserves to be on carrot cake. Not that I’m going to make any as I’d balloon up a couple hundred pounds in no time… It will have to remain an occasional treat.
FCD will be working on the boat today (no surprise there) and he’ll be in the engine room, so no space for me, and no need of my help. So I’ll be driving John Deere around the front yard and I’ll rake out my garden bed to give the daffodils a fighting chance. We’re promised mid-70s and sun after starting at 43 Ferrets. So I’ll be out getting fresh air and sunshine. Yay!
That’s as far ahead as I’ve “planned” - the day shall unfold as it unfolds.
Happy Moanday!!
A couple days ago, Mrs. Nott lost track of her car key fob, and she went through a lot of growfing and self-loathing, especially after she found out the replacement would cost about $500. Eventually, she found the dang thing in the car. I knew there was such a thing as a key finder device you can attach to your keychain, but I thought it was a silly idea back in the day when a key was a piece of metal I could get copied for a few bucks, and the finder device was very spendy. Today, the finder thing costs about $25, and the equation makes a lot more sense.
I have a workout thing at 10:30, so I gotta run.
Why not talk to yourselves?
32 ferrets/00 centipedes outside; 56 predicted. Looking ahead, I see the forecast of snow’s being mixed with Thursday’s rain. Yippee. Our yard is almost completely clear of the white stuff, and as much as I love snow, I’d like it to stay that way.
Only planned activities today are lunch and supper, and feeding the cats; other than that, it’s sloth, sloth, wonderful sloth. Just a typical day, so to speak.
the weekend went well, aside from losing an hour of it.
today is starting with minor frustrations. nearly missed the shuttle. once on the shuttle, one earring did not have a back. then i forgot sunglasses. then i left the jelly in the fridge at home. got to the office building…forgot keycard. le sigh. i have the special keycard that unlocks the pantry. only a handful of people have that access.
in the office, i changed the time on the clocks. one was easy, analog clock. the other is digital… for some reason it changed to metric for the temperature. le sigh.
a coworker with pantry access just arrived. off to stock the fridge.
Good morning!
It’s 37F and cloudy outside right now. The forecast calls for steady morning rain, afternoon showers, and a high of 43F. We might see mixed snow and rain showers overnight. A large amount of mountain snow is forecast for Wednesday. We need it.
I finished off the weekend by viewing DTF: St. Louis and Rooster. I like the first show better, but I’ll give the second a chance to get going. I also washed out the dogs’ large dog food bins.
This morning, I refilled the bins and fed the pups. I paid a couple of bills, read the news, and now I’m going to get some more coffee. I don’t have any plans for today, other than filling out some stuff in preparation for tomorrow’s optometrist appointment.
Take care of yourselves.
Well, we’re on Daylight not-Savings Time (DnSsT). It’s almost seven o’clock, and it’s still night time outside. I wish we would just stay with standard time. I mean, who needs the sun to be up art 21:30 in Summer?
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, and fixing to do KP. Other than a little houseirk today, not a whole lot shakin’ , so’s I’ll play in the studio and read a lot.
One of the things that I noticed waking up was the difference in the light levels. I’m usually up between 0730 and 0800 and it’s still not super light out. Sure, it is definitely daylight, but not super sunny. That’s what happens when one moves from the eastern part of the central time zone to the western. It makes me wonder what time dawn is in west Texas.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Good morning, everyone. Welp, we’re back to walking in the dark. The sunrise was nice while it lasted; it won’t be seen again for another three weeks. We did not see anyone this morning. I’m not sure whether it was due to DST, or the local schools being on spring break this week. It’s probably a little of both.
Squeaky got in a little late last night. He had to watch some training videos before he could end his shift. So far, the Whataburger seems like an okay place to work. We’ll see how his management acts when his mother lays down the law that Squeaky is not to work past nine PM on school nights. The Whataburger is for him to get some spare cash (which he’ll probably immediately transfer to the Games Workshop store), and his actual Job is graduating High School with good enough grades to earn a scholarship to his college of choice. (C’mon NC State!)
The HVAC guy is going to be here shortly to tune up the A/C units for spring. They seem honest - They have not yet recommended repairs on their previous tune-ups.
Mrs Magill has lojacked her keys, wallet and the dog.
Or at least go back to changing the clocks at the beginning of October and the end of March.
Yeah - we noticed it when we moved here from Charlotte. I like having the sun up in the morning.
Morning all. Up early so had to adjust to DST fast, as the electrician was here by 8am as promised. He recommended a pretty throughout replacement of the switches and the fuse box, will will cost me multiple thousands of dollars (especially replacing the fuse box). Since I’ve done very little to nothing with the electric systems in the house for the past 30 years and plan to sell it in a few years, I gulped hard and agreed, so the next couple of days will be with less electricity and more visitors. And I have the leak detectors comng tomorrow for the never-ending water problems… So I’d just rather go back to bed if I could, DST or no.
Now that that is out of my system (and just to make the day even finer, thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon), I’ll make the best of things and look at it as an investment…
Knots, Never heard of a key finder device and I have a spare key fob, but may look into that.
And they just came by to tell me to shut down my home computer so they can shut down power. Y’all take care and I’ll write again when I use my phone.
Now see what the rest of my compadres are up to at the start of the week.
The HVAC guy just got here and turned down all the thermostats so the air compressors would turn on. IT is bloody freezing in here now.
Back in the day, we would pull the eraser off a pencil and use that for an emergency back.
forgetting the food key would be a disaster, though, LOL!
That just sucks so hard. How much unrepaired piping do you even have now?
Today was really foggy when I got up, but it has mostly burned off now. Hubs is talking about starting up his mower and I told him that he couldn’t. We are still the new neighbors, if we start mowing early, everyone will have to start mowing early and some things are hard to forgive.
I think he’s going to go for a motorcycle ride instead. I think I’ll head to the tree nursery in Charleston and look at cherry trees, then stop at the Lowe’s for more paint chips. I should probably get a bag of potting soil and start my inside planting.
I’ve been messing around with the front planters so they are ready to go. I need to ask Harry about finding someone to dig holes for the trees. I could probably dig them over time, but I want to plant this spring and that won’t happen if I’m the one manning the shovel.
Currently our front lawn is covered with starlings and the fuzzbutts are losing their little minds. I’ll add “clean glass doors” to my list of things to try to get done today.
They had me doing Middle Yellow and Bottom White on the 300 North Boxline today. It seemed light, until the Air and the Richmond trucks showed up, then I was slammed. At least there was only one couch today. I did a quick stop at Aldi, only needed $20 of stuff. Now it’s naptime, at least till I cart roommie to PT this afternoon.
It is possible.
I do that lot. Maybe that’s why I’m single. ![]()
Sounds like someone hexed you with Incremental Misfortune.
I suppose I should call our HVAC guys and set up our spring servicing. I think they call us when we’re due, but it won’t hurt to check. We have an annual contract that covers the house and the mini-split in FCD’s shop. Along with twice-a-year check ups and servicing, we get a discount on some stuff and (I think) priority on emergency calls. All for $30/month. Not too terrible, methinks.
Does Roomie wear earplugs?
I’ve started raking the too-thick layer of leaves out of the garden by the front porch - not quite halfway done, but I stopped for lunch. I also rigged up a long rope, tied to the truck hitch, and I’ll put Otis in his harness so he can hang out front with me. Once the raking is done, I’ll dispatch the leaves on the lawn with the help of John Deere. Then I’ll quit. Don’t wanna overdo things!
Anyway, lunch has been ingested - back to work!
50F upon arising this morning. They’re forecasting an inch of snow for next Saturday, but the week should be sunny. I usually wake up with the daylight, but now we’re back to it being darker in the morning, so my morning schedule is thrown off. At least I don’t have to worry about getting to work.
Savory oatmeal and a bowl of raspberries this morning. All puzzles puzzed, and exercised (exorcised?) the body. I really need to wash the car, so perhaps this afternoon.
Had a good visit with daughter yesterday and the lumpia rolling went well. She’s finally gotten her tax situation straightened out and reached a compromise with the IRS for paying what she owes. She’s doing a monthly auto-pay to them, but it’s going to take her years to pay that off. She really got herself into a mess and will have to make sure she stays employed until that’s cleared up.
Yesterday I planted herbs for this summer’s use: basil, chives, thyme, mint, and Italian parsley. In previous years, early March might have seemed a little early to do this planting, but now that spring starts a month earlier than usual, I think they’ll do fine.
Then, I’m expecting delivery of some dahlia tubers today. I love big, flamboyant, bright dahlias, so I’m indulging in a particularly gorgeous one. It was mailed from Swan Island Dahlias in Oregon and if I get it today it’ll be planted today. I think these flowers like it a little cooler than my planting zone, but I’ll do my best and see how it turns out.
Lunch will be roasted tri-tip with garlic bread and a salad, I think.
Walked to first interview, no one there. Should have expected that.
Its to be 70 today.
New heat people coming. Cant go out and enjoy the weather while it lasts.
