Ah, this is adorable. After breaking up with me in March, ex calls me last night. Come visit and roll me to foodplace, I’ll buy yours. He does want to get fresh air, and decent food but I am not a booty call and that is what he wants. If I only wanted sex, I would choose him, but I mix sex with relationship, and he didn’t think I was worth marrying so he’s not worth using me. Men.

My friends get in situations where I don’t know how to help them. My best friend of 20+ years had his parents move into his house after his wife left him (she suddenly realized she was a lesbian - hard luck.) His mother took the mortgage and he helps them and they help him when he has custody of the kids. Great?
No. His mother is kind of awful. This weekend they got into an argument about whether or not his kid was safe to walk home from school alone. And to win the argument, his Mom called the police! My friend got arrested! He’s not allowed to be in his own house until after the hearing. I’m not sure how the law works but it sounds like he’s being charged with misdemeanor disturbing the peace and 2nd degree threatening (he did not threaten her.) Even though he’s been told it’s a felony for him to contact his mother, his mother has tried to contact him repeatedly, saying she wants to tell the court it was all a big misunderstanding. He has had to block her number.
He lives hundreds of miles away from us so there’s not a whole hell of a lot I can do, other than urge him to get out of the house. But it’s not like he can easily walk away. His father is disabled and lives in that house too.
I wish he’d never agreed to have them move in.
Bad judgment is often its own inevitable reward. It’s a darn shame this guy utterly flunked parent selection. But it’s hard to accept that he did not realize at least in broad outlines what he would be in for once Mom controlled his house from the inside.
IMO the specifics of her calling the cops was not predictable. The generalities of her utterly screwing up his life was beyond predictable; it was inevitable.
Desperate folks make bad decisions. If only there was a way for us to protect our friends from desperation.
Wow. I call him “The America-hating fuckstick” right out loud on FB all the time, and nary a peep out of the rules committee.
I hate to say it but I agree with you. My friend has had a rough go if it. He’s always struggled with recognizing he is in a bad relationship (like with his ex) and standing up for himself. But I think he is seriously considering leaving now.
As an aside, it makes me glad I won’t have to account for either of my parents in their old age. I haven’t spoken to them in years. Normally I think family being there for each other is a good thing but I think parents can do things to break the contract of filial obligation.
Oh geez, that’s really tough. Perhaps he can use the incident to get his parents back out of his house as they clearly aren’t helping him. Yes, it’s going to be tough but he needs to have his kid’s needs front and center and then his own needs right behind. And, yes it will be hard work. This reads like the police were far too hasty and unreasonable with their decision (his mother, too!) but the cops were probably following guidelines.

Yes, this whole incident really upset the kids and I’m worried about the effect all this chaos will have on them. Right now I’m just trying to calm down my friend who is in a state of panic.
Yes. He had also wanted to get a hotel room, to get away. That would not be fun, as I’d have had to escort him to the bathroom during the night. I’m sorry he’s stuck there, I feel bad for anyone with MS, its not fun.

Fuck. I’m starting to really worry about my own kid. He started getting really sleepy last night and he hasn’t perked up today at all. I got him to eat lunch but he wouldn’t touch dinner. He just laid down on the bench. (He is usually sleepy and laying all over the place when he’s sick.)
No GI symptoms, regular bowel movements, no fever, no cough, no runny nose, just a very droopy, sleepy kid. I had to carry him to bed. At one point he cried, “Get it out!” and something about his mouth, so I’m thinking he might have strep.
If he’s not better in the morning I think I’m gonna have to take him to urgent care.
Last year everyone had to get a new license plate. I ordered mine online the first of September, paying extra to have it mailed to me. It never showed up. Mid-October I had to go to the DMV and stand in line for 1 1/2 hours to get something I paid extra to have mailed to me.
This year we just need a sticker. I ordered mine online Sept. 3, again paying extra to have it mailed to me. And it hasn’t shown up. They have my correct address since I did get the renewal notice. So mid-October* I will once again have to go to the fucking DMV to stand in line who knows how long to get something I paid extra to have mailed to me. Goddamnit.
*Mid-October because I’d have to be stupid to go to the DMV near the first or last of a month. I have my receipt on my phone in case I happened to get stopped by the cops before then.
