Time To Dismember (Rants of September){OLD}

Those bastards! Glad you’re okay, @kaylasdad99.

Hey, no reason you can’t take a few days off from from work because you… “got mugged”!

You could imply an ER visit and imaging and doctors and neurologists and even concussion protocols…

“I’m staying on my back in a darkened room, but I’m NOT going to do that for a whole week. I told everyone I need to get back to work!”

Two hundred dollars, for what it’s worth.

(I’m not correcting you, I was experimenting on what Discourse would do.)

Okay, I guess it’s possible to make a living doing absolutely nothing. There is an entire half page article in today’s paper on a “Naming Pro”. This is a person you pay to come up with a child’s name if you happen to be too stupid to do it yourself. You can get a “deluxe package” for $500 that includes “unlimited name lists” and online consultation. One person was unable to come up with a name starting with “P” to go along with her other child whose name is Parker. The name pro came up with Prestyn. Yeah, saddle a kid with a name he’ll have to spell out for everybody he ever comes in contact with for his entire fucking life. This seems like a service for the terminally lazy and uncompromisingly stupid person with entirely too much money in the bank.

My employer sent a mass text, we haven’t opened yet, still training. The text was in all caps saying there would be consequences for calling off!! Also someone complained that he’d said our checks would be there Monday, then he said they were closed Monday, so Tuesday. The boss said too bad, if you don’t like that, find somewhere else.
Of course I had to call off today, staying near bathroom, so yeah, I’m disemployed. Crap!

Wait, you’re getting fired because you have to go to the bathroom, so you can’t go to work?

I think we missed a step here… Do you have turista? Or a colonoscopy prep?

Literally…

Did the boss actually tell you, “You’re fired; don’t come back!” or are you implying based on a single mass text?

Good point… if you’re not there already, go to work!

Went shopping this weekend.

Sam’s Club had Halloween decorations out already. But that’s not what I’m ranting about - it’s early (as king I’d say October 1 if I liked you, Oct 15 for everyone else), but meh.

Home Depot - Halloween. Still not my rant.

Lowe’s - Halloween decorations and Halloween candy. I never rant about candy being available.

Big Lot’s - a small Halloween section where they have their seasonal stuff. Why small? Because the rest of the space and the front of the store have fucking Christmas decorations!

I had to call off, he texted me privately. I dont know what I “have”, I take anti diahreal’s on a regular basis. Colonoscopy coming up later this month

I wondered this, too (partly because I don’t know what “calling off” means—calling in sick?). I’m noticing a pattern:

“I need a job”
“I found a job”
“The boss is unreasonable”
“I lost the job.”
Repeat.

All of the specific instances of unreasonable bosses, including this one, really do seem unreasonable, but nevertheless the pattern persists. All of the churning between jobs sounds much more exhausting than just pushing through with an awful boss for a couple of months.

You’ve obviously got some limiting factors, but also a lot to offer. I bet if you started a thread “help me find a job that suits me,” people here would have ideas. I don’t think the current pattern is working out.

He wasn’t unreasonable, I’ve never had a bad boss actually.

I don’t mind Halloween stuff in September, or even late August. To me, that’s close enough. It’s obviously way too early to start decorating for Halloween (that shouldn’t happen until at least the beginning of October) but I can see buying stuff in September if you happen to be in the store. Especially these days shoppers aren’t in a brick and mortar store all the time, so capitalize on when they are there.

It’s way too early for Christmas stuff though. And I have already seen Christmas decorations pop up in places. Come on now!

I’ve been nervous at the ATMs by me for a while. Some 2-3 years ago I was beaten to the ground by a Proud Boy Baldy for no reason other than he was ignorant, stupid, 6’5, 400+ lbs, and full of crazy in front of a store.

In MY state, you can never use a weapon to defend yourself on public property under any circumstances… or you will go to jail…so… I bought a canister of cheap pepper spray. If I ever use it, I will probably still be cuffed… but I might not be charged. It’s just so I can get 2+ minutes so I can run to my car and drive off to safety.

Then again, Loach is a Mod here and he knows better…

God damn it. Last month, my insurance company just decided, in the middle of the contract year, to stop covering my asthma maintenance inhaler (currently suffocating as we speak.**)

Now I’m just informed they won’t cover my Vyvanse anymore. Miracle drug for my ADHD. Now costs $400 with coupon. I’m going to run out tomorrow and then I will be in severe withdrawal.

I pay $30,000 a year for this shit. Insurance company executives are some of the most evil pieces of shit imaginable. I think we should all get together and sue them to oblivion.

The harder I work on my health, the worse it gets. I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle.

**Peak flow technically in the green again, but I can’t stop coughing. It’s been 14 days of this shit.

Do you think you are a good employee generally? What was your last successful job?

Yes. I am always upbeat and take on extra tasks.
Successful? I guess being my ex’s home aide. If you call being paid to watch tv with someone work.

Yep, it starts in September. Even Target puts the Halloween stuff in a separate location from the usual seasonal stuff so that they can start laying out the Christmas stuff well before Halloween is here.

Pretty much this. They’ll do what they can get away with. Talk to your doctor’s office about it and ask about whether or not they can advocate for you. Next step is to talk to your state’s insurance board, a state representative and then look to find out which local media can help you publicize what the insurance company is doing to you. Once the news media start to sniff around your problem with the insurance company, they magically agree to help you. Get on this right away. It can take months, and sometimes years, to resolve.

I called them Saturday. The lady said “my supervisor said there should be some movement over the weekend; if you don’t see a change in the tracking Tuesday night, call us again”.

Unfortunately I forgot to check until after their customer service line had closed for the evening - as you might imagine, the damn thing STILL says “label created, awaiting carrier pickup”.

It is in a warehouse (I assume) less than 90 miles away.

On the plus side: we put the frame together the other day, including the casters, as I wanted to get rid of the box. The frame seems nice and solid, and the casters work quite well. Not terribly USEFUL at the moment (the bird hasn’t even tried to perch on it).

I tried to locate the drawers and top for store pickup but the best any local (ish) store could have done was “ship to store by September 8th”. Foolishly, I declined, as in theory the ones I ordered should have been here by then.
