I wear boots everyday! They are an essential item for motorcycling
It may be unfashionable but I hold on to boots year after year. So I’ve got some plain, square-toed, square-heeled, almost-knee-high, zip-up boots, one pair in kinda shiny black and one pair in brown suade. And I love love love them. They’re really comfortable and make me look and feel good. So what if they’re not exactly This Year’s Style? I like them!
I have a pair of black on black velvet knee high boots that are embroidered all over. Love 'em.
Now I just have to find the perfect skirt to wear with them.
Already have two pairs of those. I’m looking for something fun!
So the google ads have a link to Zappos, which I surf regularly anyway, and I just found these not too pointy toed and non clunky heeled. I love Zappos. The only trouble is, it’s impossible to tell how comfy they’re going to be.
Furry boots with all kinds of stuff hanging onto them, is what’s in fashion here, in the Netherlands.
I like the boots, Kalhoun. Try to find a matching jacket.
I have some like these, except shiney.

They’re pretty comfortable.
Boots…I just can’t get enough of them.
It’s probably to my advantage that many of them don’t fit over my calves, otherwise my collection would be bigger than it already is!
If only my mother (college student, she pays for clothing) shared my love of boots… All the ones I have are clunky-heeled, and she doesnt understand the need for ones for different seasons.
sigh
One place I look for boots is at used clothing stores. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and find the perfect pair of boots!
Those are positively scrumptious! And I bet they’re comfy!
You bet! That would be the final brick on the path to my fashion past. Mmmmm…1972!!!
I’ve got wide calfs. And I mean wide. Most Dutch women aren’t petite waifs to begin with, and most have strong calfs because cycling is how we Dutch get around. Well, there’s only one woman with stronger, wider calfs then me in het whole country, and that is Dutch Queen Beatrix herself.
But hey, I like skirts, and I like the “rural” look of wearing boots under a skirt, so off bootshopping I went.
Well, boots are in fashion. Every shoestore is loaded with them. I must have tried on fifty, but none fit around my calves.
So I tried the internet. Some sites indeed offer wide-calf-boots,and pretty ones at that. But to have them shipped from Oregon to the Netherlands, try them on and sent them back when they won’t fit? Not practical.
But then I discovered that local shoe-repairshops can stretch leather. They wet the leather and stretch it for 24 hours. Up to 12 cm (six inches!) of increase in circumference is possible, they claim, for a mere 15 dollars ! I brought a fav pair of boots.
Next week, my boots will come back from stretching. I wonder how they will look!
My mom never quite grasped the concept of the “fashion boot” either. She was all about the hideous, yet functional SNOW-N-SLUSH BOOT. Hey…if the weather’s that bad, I don’t need to go out in it!!!
They can stretch boots? My problems are solved! Hooray!!
Stupid big calves grumble mutter
Well, I have to be the first to say it - I love shoes, but just can’t get behind boots. I’m sorry! I’ve just never found a pair that I can fall in love with!
Susan
Just LUUUUUUUURV my boots!
Have ankle ones, to mid calf ones, to knee length ones, to suede ones, to lace up ones, to a pair of AMAZING silver heeled thigh length ones!!
Just thought of a reason to be VERY GLAD winter is on its way!
My lovely, gorgeous, fit just right boots are at the cobblers, awaiting repairs. My boot has a hole in its sole, which lets the water in when it rains, and means I have wet feet. I am currently bootless.
Fear not! My cobbler fixed my bestest boots and put a better sole on them than what came with them. There is hope!
My cobbler’s just called me. He can’t repair them.
Aww, I’m sorry, Angua!! My solution would be to just not wear them in the rain. I won’t get rid of a pair of shoes I love until there’s almost nothing left of them.
