its kind of difficulat to avoid rain over here.
Still, I’ve talked to the shop that I bought them from, they might be able to sort them out. But it’ll have to be Monday before I find that out.

I looked at your location just after I posted and thought “Well, maybe she can’t just not wear them in the rain.”
Girl, I am so there with you. I not only went and bought my stylish new boots for the fall season, I started my own thread about 'em!
Oh shit. There’s nothing worse. (hears a funeral dirge playing in the distance). What did they look like? Maybe we can find you a suitable substitute!
Kalhoun, those VS boots are really gorgeous and alluring, but I never splurge on anything that overpriced. I might spring for them at 50% off.
The affordable, chic boots I found at Payless for $29 have satisfied me. Knee-high black suede, narrow-toed, 4-inch heels, won me compliments as soon as I started wearing them. Anything that brings me compliments is a winner!
Well, my boots came back from the cobbler today, where I had them stretched to fit around my wide calves. The result, at just 13 dollars a pair, is awesome. No dents or stretchmarks, just my own boots, but now fitting me perfectly, without strain on the zipper.
I also found this site for -very nice- boots with extra-wide calves. Could be an option, too.
Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. They’re black, come up to just above my ankle, and have a wedge heel that’s not too pronounced, and slightly rounded slightly pointed toe.
I have managed to find somewhere who may be able to repair them. They’re due back next Wednesday. Here’s hoping they’re fixed.
I’m still wearing flip-flops.
Hmm.
I have fabulous boots this year. Crusoe got them for me in Venice for my birthday and they are gorgeous. Chestnut brown leather, almost knee length, laced up the back and fastened with a buckle at the top - just in case, you know, they fall off…anyway, they look fab. Best of all, they are round toed with a flattish heel, so I can walk miles in them. I feel more confident in them too, a couple of weekends ago I had to walk home late one night (tube down, not a cab to be had) through some not-great-areas, but could stride along confidently, safe in the knowledge that should anyone try anything, I’m perfectly shod to kick 'em in the nadgers and then run away.
Ahem. Anyway…I really like the boots.
That’s weird. In the UK, round toed, chunky heeled boots are everywhere. Pointy toes and skinny heels are very out this season over here.

Which is great for me - I love skinny heels but I break them stomping about too much.

Whoah.
Sorry!
Nice.
However, Jennyrosity, I now hate you and your kickarse boots.

The last boots I bought were a couple years ago off ebay – Fluevog Derby Swirls. Those are my everyday boots when it’s not warm enough to wear flipflops. They’ve held up really well, but the right bootlace snapped today when I was ducking cat lovies and trying to lace them (the boots, not the cats) up.
So now I’m wearing the alternative to flipflops and keeping my tootsies warm – 11 inch Durango harness boots that’ve held up really well over the years.
Fashion? What fashion?
Boots!
I basically only wear one pair, year round: my beautiful, precious Doc Martens which I have had for two years and will never give up, even when they fall apart (then they will be properly enshrined, or perhaps giving a proper burial). I also have a new pair that are almost as pleasant, but not as, ummm, subtle, shall we say.
My shoes that I’m having to wear in the interim until my boots are fixed give me blisters.
I went out to a gig on Friday night, and ended up dancing (in the loosest possible sense of dancing) to some Latin salsa-esque music, and then walked home. For starters the shoes relly didn’t hold up too well to the dancing, whereas my boots would havev had no problems, and then in the morning, I noticed that my feet had blisters because of the shoes. I miss my boots.
