I’m sitting here, my eyes filled with tears. Poly was a unique man who was a blessing to every soul he touched. All of us stand a little taller for having known him. Godspeed, Poly.

Best translation I could find:
I rejoice with you greatly in our Lord Jesus Christ, having welcomed the replicas of true love and having sent on their way, as was incumbent upon you, those confined by chains fitting for saints which are the crowns of those truly chosen by God and our Lord.

Polycarp was one of the few posters here who could argue religion without making you feel like you were being proselytized. He brought a wealth of knowledge to every post he contributed and will be sorely missed.
I should also add that he was Persephone’s favorite poster while she was with us.

Aw, man. I was thinking about him within the last couple of months and wondering how he was. When I came over from the Left Behind boards, he was an example to me in how to talk about religion well.
I am sure he is at peace, and my thoughts are with you. Thank you for letting us know.
I’m so, so saddened and shocked to hear this. I only knew him from these Message Boards, of course, but I admired him and will always remember the thought-provoking exchanges.
