To Hawkins (and other "im not interested in this thread!" idiots)

Hawkins, in THIS thread you say…

Umm… it doesn’t take a microscope to see that you not only read, but posted in this thread.
I some threads i have no interest in, so i don’t read or post in them.
For you to go out of your way to make a point of how disinterested you are, shows some interest.

Unless you were trying to be funny, in which case i’ll laugh my fucking arse off, because it was hilarious if that was the case.

Yeah, this is one of my pet peeves on the boards, when people do it in earnest (I don’t know about Hawkins’s intent). I can’t imagine a situation, online or in real life, where it’s productive to join a conversation just to say “I don’t want to be a part of this conversation.”

Some people feel some kind of superiority from not being interested in certain things. Others must be informed of this superiority.

I see this more more often here than on other boards.
“I don’t even own a TV…”, “I dont know who this Paris Hilton person is…”, “Bic Mac… that’s from Mcdonalds right?”

If they were it would have been better not to recycle a joke from Frasier series 1.

Where do I sign? This pisses me off to no end.

Imagine popping up on every single CS thread to say “I haven’t read that book/heard that song/watched that show”. It is really stupid.

What’s even funnier is that the moron posted in the thread a second time, about 24 minutes later. I guess he was all upset that no-one acknowledged his drive-by idiocy, and felt the need to remind everyone he was there.

The playwright George S. Kaufmann was once a panelist on a 1950s TV show. The panel was asked advice by singer Eddie Fisher, who complained that girls wouldn’t date him because of his age.

Kaufmann’s hilarious (purported) reply (quoted below) seems to be what Hawkins was trying, not too successfully, to steal – the reply loses its zing if nobody asked you for advice.

Or even “I don’t read/listen to music/watch TV”. Some people just need a wet trout to the face. I’ve had people do this to me IRL as well (not the wet trout, the other thing) and it’s obnoxious as hell. Here I am, chatting it up with someone about how much we like X, and some eavesdropping moron feels compelled to tell us how much X must suck, are we serious, no they haven’t seen/heard/experienced it, blah frickin blah.

(Btw, Sapo, I must say, I have been greatly enjoying your posts. I’m glad free posting brought you back. Please, continue to provide me with hilarity.)

Shut up, I don’t even eat fish.

Imainge the outrage were someone to post “Sorry, just posting to say i wont be posting on this board as you aren’t using the latest version of vBulletin” (if that were the case)

Happens all the time. Outrage? No, we just point & laugh.

I mean someone posting as their very first post “Sorry, i wont be posting here…”.

What a troll, eh?!

bah I’m not even interested in this thread. Op is total FAIL at capturing my interest and should FEEL BAD. Because I’m king of the world.

My god, I had no idea Frasier stole that joke.

Wouldn’t the type of post described by the OP be the type threadshitting described as a reportable violation in the ATMB Glossary:

I dunno, but the political threads are making me want to smash things… I don’t read or thread-shit … much, but … yargh.

This thread might be interesting.

Whatever. I didn’t even read your post, and that’s why I’m not responding to it.
