My suggestion was made when the thread was quite new and had a chance of taking a different tack.
I am not a Pit Mod and, apart from rampant board violations or mercy killings, feel no compulsion to exercise my authority in this Forum.
At this point, with the engine a burning hulk at the bottom of the ravine and the cars scattered across the countryside like so many tenpins following a strike, I see no benefit to closing this thread only to have it resume, immediately, under a different title.

I get slanging a person’s posts when you’re fed up with their blather and you want to nail them for being bad at debating. I laugh along with those. Some of the Pit threads have had me literally laughing out loud. It’s when the Pit gets deeply personal that it gets disturbing to me.
But then, I’m the one who sees no joy in horror movies and has to turn the sound down when people are screaming on some TV show. I think boxing is stupid and that its fans are equally so. So I’m not likely to think that any blood sport, including watching a herd going after a poster on a board, constitutes ‘fun’.

I, too, am pretty good about not letting these things get to me but I have to wonder if someone who is so thoroughly drubbed by what seems to be a disproportionate number of people might not feel the sting after a while. If I thought that everybody considered it to be an internet version of Clouseau vs Kato, it might not bother me but I can’t help but think that some people are very serious about wishing to cause harm and that’s hard to watch. See what I’m saying? I see that you don’t seem to mean actual harm, and that’s ok, I guess, but it would be unfortunate if it caused harm anyway.

I’m glad you could get your answer despite all the cacophony. I read the Bible pretty much like any other book. The only important theme within it is love. Anything therein contradicting that theme is worthless and wrong. Note that there are also other sources of inspiration, equal to or better than the Bible — Gibran’s Jesus the Son of Man, for example.
Which would merely shift elsewhere if you closed it. So it really doesn’t matter. It’s always the same bunch. They recruit a newbie now and then, but then someone else drops out. Like Quiddity suspected, I’ve grown jaded about it. What more can they say to me? They’ve attacked me, my wife, my daughter, and my (good) brother. They’re pissed off that I’m actually growing a thicker skin and not melting down now as they’d hoped. Colibri didn’t mention it, but some of them actually go off-board to conspire and plan some of the attacks. I know this only because a member revealed it and linked to it in the Pit some time ago (for which he was suspended). Even for simply stating these truths, they’ll say I have a martyr complex or equivalent. I’ve come to see them just like any other obstacles in life. You do your best to overcome them. You fail sometimes. You keep trying. Life is a moral journey, and without challenges it would be pointless. That’s my view of it, anyway.

Now for what it is worth, the attacks in this thread from the beginning were out of character with the Ops question. Just putting your name in a pit title is like waving a red flag to many members on the board. This I believe is true. I also believe it is true that you have a long pattern of generating “interests” in you.
