To me, nothing says Spring like...

A field of long, green grass, gone to seed and undulating in unison.

daylight saving time

I thought of that. I sort of did that for my Autumn painting though.

I like the idea of cherry blossoms.

The first crocus.

Pale sunny blue skies and a warm breeze.

Snow melting on brownish-green grass, with stalks poking through.

That wet, sodden, fresh look the trees and bushes have.

Now that I’ve given a smart-ass answer, the serious response is:

The sky is a bright blue with only a couple wisps of clouds high up and far away. Rolling green hills dotted with daisies, black-eyed susans and purple clover. Irish setter puppies frolic and gambol through the fields, chasing butterflies.

That is what spring looks like in my mind.

And, of course, lots of naked women.

Frogs croaking at night. Poor guys started croaking on the 50 degree nights we had early last week, then it was in the 20’s Saturday and Sunday night.

Red buds on Maple Trees

Robins

Daffodils sprouting up out of the ground, we have a few blooming here

Earthworms on the sidewalk on sunny days

Potholes, pussywillows, motorcycles.

That could totally work. Add in a little girl in a sun dress picking flowers, and it could be great.

I’m going to think about this one.

White sundress, white straw hat with a pink ribbon. Her head is tilted so her face is in the shadow of the hat’s brim. Her arm is through the handle of a wicker basket.

I still prefer the naked women but YMMV.

Any type of young. Puppies, kittens, calves, foals, ducklings, etc. New life = spring.

The first day you can wear shorts comfortably. I remember it well…about a month ago. (Don’t hate me because it was 80 here on February 10th!)

I was thinking the hat. Nice touch with the ribbon and basket. If I take away the hat (or even if I don’t), I can paint the warm breeze with her hair. And for that matter, her dress as well.

Pretty much this, only three months earlier.

All the world in in tune on a Spring afternoon as we’re poisoning pigeons in the park…

A baby rabbit nibbling a dandelion amongst (ETA2: blooming, white and red) clover. ETA: Throw in a robin pulling up a worm if you want.

Nice work! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

I can get the images in my head but somewhere between head and hand it turns into total crap. Someday I hope they invent a machine that will print a picture from the images you create in your imagination or that can play the music you compose in your head. Inside, I am an artistic, literary and musical genius. In real life I’m lucky I can play the radio…

Thanks! For that, I had an actual model to work with. Toddlers make lousy models.

I guess I’m lucky that every now and then I can paint totally from my imagination. But I often have to work it out as a drawing a bunch of times. What I end up with is often far different from my original vision.

Boing.

Tigger?

The pond behind my house coming alive with spring peepers every evening.
