I would just like to say that it is a pleasure when products work as advertised, and to thank my Dove Invisible Solid-powder fragrance for going beyond the call of duty yesterday.
I applied the regulation amount at 6:30 am, and set out for the day. Stressful morning in court with son, and then off to work, where the air conditioning is broken. My task for the day was to do inventory prep on the offsite storage…a small, airless room behind the food court with a sewage pipe running through it. Needless to say, on a normal day it’s hot in there, but yesterday…at least 85 with NO air circulation. My boss said it wasn’t too bad, shouldn’t take long…but she lied. I ended up having to rearrage nearly all the shelves, throw out a cartload of trash and boxes, sweep, climb ladders, shift heavy boxes…all in a dress and pantyhose. 2 solid hours. My hair was so soaking wet that I could wring out the sweat…it was as if I had just shampooed. My dress was soaked, my cotton underwear was drenched, and I had a dinner appointment at 4:30 with no time to go home and change. The whole drive to dinner I’m running the air full blast, flapping my hair and dress to dry them, front unbuttoned as far as possible to get circulation and not cause accidents.
I’m fairly dry when I get to the restaurant, and I do a sniff test of the pits…just fine. After dinner, more running around, and still smell fine, but I think maybe I’m just used to it. But this morning I sniff the dress and if I didn’t know better I’d say I could wear it again today…the deodorant kept me fresh and non-smelly!
So thank you again, my good friend, for exemplary performance under harsh conditions!
Just making sure, but you’re using plain “deodorant”, not “anti-perspirant”? I don’t trust anti-perspirant. I don’t like the idea of not actually sweating. I don’t sweat much as it is, and sometimes my pores refuse to open and I get this terrible itch under my skin. So it’s only deodorant for me.
The only problem is, deodorants tend to be too strong scent-wise. Especially the brands for men. Some of them can give me a headache with just one sniff. Even the powder scents are sometimes too “powdery”. I’ve never given Dove a sniff before. Do they have any other scents beside powder?
Currently, I use Degree “Cool Rush”. It’s the least offensive of the Degree deodorants, but the others aren’t too bad. Maybe if I get a little daring I’ll try a different one someday. (I must look like an idiot at the drugstore, opening all the sticks of deodorant to take a sniff. And having mini-seizures whenever I get a bad one. )
I didn’t like Dove’s anti-perspirant… It didn’t keep me dry at all. I love my Ultra Secret invisible stuff. And as for not sweating… Well the rest of me sweats just fine, I think I can survive a few inches of me not doing it
Yes, it is an Anti-perspirant/Deodorant. I should have been more accurate, but it was the non-smelly quality that I wanted to highlight. No ant-perspirant in the world would keep you from sweating under those conditions! Not unless you rubbed it all over your head and everywhere else. Like TellMeI’mNotCrazy said, it’s just a few inches under your arms. Your body will find a place to sweat out of when it needs to!
And Beauty Personified, Dove does make an unscented. But how do you know your pores refuse to open? What does that feel like? Is that what a doctor told you, or is that just your term for the itchy feeling? I get no sensations from my pores, so I can’t quite grasp what you are describing. Can you clarify?
I’m not 100% but I think this is caused by dryness. My underarms get dry and itchy when my antiperspirant works too well.
I’ve tried Dove though and although I didn’t think it worked any better than other antiperspirants, I never got the itchy feeling because of the added moisturizer.
