During the end credits of TV shows in the sixties, they would often fade out the music and have a voiceover promo of an upcoming series. I clearly remember one that began “My name is George Jetson, and I was born 100 years from now”.
I’ve never heard of that before, and I have all the books on them. It contradicts everything we know about the Jetsons, which was always meant to be the world of 2062. Not that anyone in promotion cared about continuity. They might not have even used George O’Hanlon’s voice and done this outside of anyone on the show.
Still, I’m curious if anyone else has ever heard this.
Oh it was definitely in George Jetson’s voice. I can hear it now, plain as day, though I was just a kid.
But, if George is indeed from the future, when he made that promo he had not been born yet. Think about it. Somehow that tape was sent back from the future, but how far in the future? Let’s say he was born in 2022, well he would have been a baby, so suppose he recorded it when he was 40, that would be 2062, but if he said in 2062 he was born 100 years from now, that would be 2162 plus 40 equals 2202, but then… I don’t know.
When you die, you become a ghost and exist forever as a ghost from that moment forward, right?. Does that mean there’s an anti-ghost that exists before you are born, backwards to infinity? So maybe George’s anti-ghost popped up in 1962, minus 40 years, so 1922, and made that recording on a disc record, and someone found it in 1962 - so indeed it could be true that 2062 is when he was born.
Yes, that makes much more sense. Anti-ghost George. And they move backwards in time, so “Nostej Egroeg” talks backwards, but they can easily fix that in post.
Daughter Judy was 16, wasn’t she? That would put Jane at around 16 and George at around 23 when they were gettin’ busy conceiving Judy. Lasergun wedding?
Laura Petrie married Rob when she was 17, though she lied about her age. (She added two years to it.) They had to get married all over again because her lie on the marriage license invalidated it. (SFAIK, they never told Ritchie he was born a bastard.)
