Tom DeLay, the American people await your retraction

Oh yeah, this is the Pit.

Okay, go 'head and tell it.

The first part of his post (DeLay trying to get a cruise boat for the 2004 Rep Convention, and thereby not-so-subtly offending New Yorkers of all parties) I had heard about.

I don’t think there’s any good way to defend him. He said things that were patently untrue. Why he said them is a topic for discussion (liar vs. dolt), but he did say them and will have to suffer the consequences, if any.

DeLay charity draws complaints

Here’s the charity Delay’s mixed in with the convention and boat deal:
DeLay to IRS: Kids charity OK

Funny, I’ve thought the same thing about Bud Selig.

Aaaack! Maybe they’ve got a secret lab tucked away, where they’re re-animating the Republicundead Army!

Run away!! Run away!!

Oh yeah, the boat guy!! All them southern guys look alike to me.

At first I thought, oh well, maybe he’s trying to save money for the poorer delegates by having them double up on a nice ship down at Pier 88. But it turns out that the ship would be MORE expensive per capita than even NY hotel rooms, and his hidden motive was so that the delegates wouldn’t have to roam the nasty streets of the city among the mostly Democrats and homersexuals and unAmericans and all. The scheme didn’t get very far and the few New Yorkers who heard about it were pretty mad, and to their credit much of the Republicans I know and the party’s top brass were embarrassed by it. Verily, Republicans walk the very same streets with everyone else in the safest big city in America. The Repub mayor (OK, he switched to run for office but still) was not a happy camper.

Unfortunately, since the Republican-dominated Texas legislature (at the behest of the aforementioned Rep. DeLay) decided to “redraw”(i.e., gerrymander) the Texas congressional district map after only two years, this is unlikely. Unless the courts throw out the plan, were probably going to get more of His Satanic Majesty, Tom DeLay, and some new DeLay-clones in the next few elections.

DeLay may be an “idiot” but he’s a smart. By insulting the French, he knows that he can solidify support among the “Bubbas” in his district who distrust those decadent “durn furriners” with their socialistic governments. As for offending New Yorkers with GOP “Love Boat” cruise, I don’t think it hurts in Texas if you do something that pisses off a few Yankees.

Uncle Beer: doubtlessly World Eater had thrown a corn flake in the bottle, so he could have it for breakfast.

This

is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time.

And, to top things off, DeLay’s relatives have committed a federal crime by assaulting the President. Have they no shame?

This is where things get interesting. The states of Illinois and New Mexico are both considering doing gerrymanders of their own in retaliation. If they do this, one of the two New Mexico House Republicans and several of the (11?) Illinois House Republican could end up losing their seats.

Aw come on! The kid was obviously just looking for candy and had heard that W used to keep his in his nose.

Aaaaarrrrgh! Drag him out and shoot him, I’ll swear out the warrant later.

Otto - I just laughed homemade tortilla soup through my nose. Very spicy homemade tortilla soup. Ouch.

Did anyone else looking at that picture thing “bad touch”?

LC

err, think “bad touch”

Does anyone from Delay’s Congressional district even read The Straight Dope? If so, would they care to defend him? Anyone? Anyone?
