Of an undisclosed illness at age 85.
Too bad. I had no idea he was that old.
He lived a long life; happy trails.
I loved the guy, though, whenever he would guest star in a sitcom or whatever the episode would be better for it.
RIP, Peeper.
Awwwwwww, Dick!
IMDb sez Tom was only in 3 episodes of Newhart 82. Is that possible?!
What a sweet guy. RIP, George.
Aw. I was just thinking about him (I’m writing a little essay on the show Bob, where he guest starred several times). He was a very funny man.
IMDB did a redesign/reorganization and in the process ended up with series regulars for all the TV series having to be basically rebuilt.
Yeah, what it amounts to is that the now each episode has a separate complete cast list, where before, the episode cast list was simply the guests–no regulars. A lot of the migration is manual, so there are many series out there with only a few episodes showing an actor/actress who might have been a regular cast member for years.
Does Orson Bean get a bottle of cognac now?
RIP, Peeper. I remember him from so many shows, from TBNS to Mork and Mindy to Newhart. He was a funny and gentle man. I’m glad that he and Suzanne Pleshette had found happiness with each other, and my sympathy goes to Ms. Pleshette for her loss.
Yeah, totally. I was always so happy to see him in anything!
Kitty Carlisle. Tom Poston…
Heaven’s getting ready for a humongous game show.
Sorry for the hijack, but I’d love to read your essay. I was pretty sure I was the only one who enjoyed that show (first season). Is it on DVD or VHS anywhere?
And, oh yeah, RIP Tom.
My favorite George moment from Newhart:
George mentions to someone how much he admires Kirk’s dress sense (this was first season). They advise him to ask Kirk for help in dressing sharp.
George: I really like your clothes, Kirk.
Kirk: Why, thank you, George. Coming from you, that’s – thank you, George.
George: Can I have your clothes, Kirk?
So long, George.
I had no idea he was that young.
Sad news, either way. I remember him best in his appearances on the Steve Allen show. He was a funny man.
Rest in Peace, Tom.
He always looked the same age to me.
Are they sure he’s dead?
Thanks for the chuckle at a time of sad news, Zoe.
I always scream laughing whenever I see his exchange with Don Adams in “Get Smart”
Poston (as Dr Zharko, a mad scientist re-animating dead KOAS agents - Poston was reputedly first choice for the role of Maxwell Smart) “You remind me of someone - do you have a brother?”
Smart “No, I don’t have a brother”
Zharko (cheerily) “Oh! I could make you one…”
What a sad loss. What a funny fellow he was.
mm
Me three, and Mr. S four. First season was funny, funny stuff:
“I sliced an inch of the bottom of the wedding cake.”
“I’ll pay a dime a jump to watch you break your neck.”
“Mystery Date . . . are you ready for your mystery date?”
“Hey, it’s the guy who plays Norm on Cheers!”
Nick at Nite (I think) ran a few episodes several years ago, and I taped what I could, but I never got the wedding anniversary one, which had us peeing our pants when it first ran. Bob won’t even discuss the show; I doubt it’s commercially available.
