tomndebb is a genocide denier

It’s a real world example of “Crying Wolf.”

Is that what he calls his?

An honor from a moron who cannot click on the “quote” button without screwing it up and then can’t be bothered to edit it within the window.

Weak sauce, bro. Weak.

What a fucking tool you are.

I asked about your personal standard (or the standard established by somebody else which you agree with). What distinguishes to you the difference between killing done as an act of war and killing done as an act of genocide?

Unless I’ve missed it in the numerous posts here, you’ve said that anything which kills a group in whole or in part is an act of genocide. I, along with other people, have pointed out that every war kills a part of some group. So do you feel that every war is automatically an act of genocide? Or do you feel there are situations in which you can kill part of a group as an act of war without it being an act of genocide?

I guess the OP is right; you’re in denial of the genocides you’ve been committing. I think there is a 12 step program for that…

Others have said it, but this is an excellent summary of the issue at hand. If, in fact, every war is an act of genocide, then we need a new word to describe what is commonly thought of as “genocide”. That is, a deliberate act to wipe out an entire group of people. I suggest we coin the term “ubergenocide”, in keeping with current linguistic trends and also giving a nod to one of the more famous examples in history.

TSS, I want to thank you for your detailed posts and your passionate argument for your case.

I’ve been rather down and depressed lately, and the belly laugh you provided for me this morning has lifted my spirits. Thank you.

Oh, and would you add me to your ignore list, please? That would just be a grand finale.

I suppose one could say that TSS uses a very unique definition of the word “genocide”.

Quite an eclectic group you’re getting on your “ignore” list, isn’t it TSS? You know what they say: When one person thinks you’re an asshole, it’s one thing. When everybody thinks you’re an asshole, it’s another.

We were thinking megadeath but there were trademark issues with the band.

It just means everyone is a holocaust denier.

Speaking of which, the thread title just begs for a re-do of a popular Ramones song:

*Well posters are all hopped up and ready to go
They’re ready to go now
They’ve got their Internet memes
And they’re going to the Gaza thread a go go
But Tom just couldn’t stay
He had to break away
Well the Straight Dope really has it all
Oh yeah, oh yeah

Tomndebb’s a genocide denier
Tomndebb’s a genocide denier
Tomndebb’s a genocide denier, now*

I was thinking more along the lines of:

*Twenty twenty twenty-four hours to go,
Is-ra-el-i genocide!

Get me to the airport, put bombs on the plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before the rockets flame*

Your posts do the same for me, but don’t add me to your ignore list. Really, you are a hoot and two-thirds. I would be very disappointed if I had to add you to my genocide deniers list. So please don’t. Good God you are entertaining. Stephen Colbert is not as entertaining as you are.

However, if you insist you would like to be added to my ignore list for genocide denial, you can reject the UN definition of genocide, deny any of history’s agreed genocides or, when discussing a particular genocide, disputed not, play http://www.genocidewatch.org/aboutgenocide/12waystodenygenocide.html any or a combination of the methods to dispose of evidence you find inconvenient.

Or, on these threads in general:

It’s a thousand pages, give or take a few
I’ll be writing more in a week or two
I can make it longer if you like the style
I can change it round and I want to be a genocide denier
Genocide denier

Can’t tell if sincerely fawning or attempting sarcasm…

Dude, I’m an asshole, pretty much everyone here has thought so for years. I think I’m an asshole. But that isn’t really relevant to anything.

I don’t invent my own definitions or my own facts. If my own country is committing a genocide, or an ally of my own country, or my own relatives, I’ll say so. Turd in the punchbowl and all, but in many countries in the world genocide denial is a crime. Not one I’d like to be guilty of. There are people in other countries who are convicted of such crimes, and I won’t mention their names because they don’t deserve any publicity.

The Holocaust is probably the best documented event in history. And there are people who deny it occurred. Whether they are crazy or evil or both would be up to debate if we paid any attention to them. However bad the Holocaust was (as bad as any other genocide in history, if not worse) it is over. The Holocaust has a lot to do with who we are today, keeping its memory, outlawing it and trying to prevent it occurring again. Yet, over and over and over again we fail in preventing and stopping genocides. Or even recognizing that Israel and Hamas are perpetrating genocide on each other.

Pretty much everyone here thinks you’re an idiot, too. What’s your position on that?

Clothahump is a SDMB treasure. I don’t agree with virtually anything he/she says, but it never fails to knock me over with how much disagreeable the viewpoints are without actually turning venal. It’s like Bricker without the fancy window dressing. He is the Curly Howard of conservatives, while Bricker is more the William Powell.
