4th: Past polls and Results:
After the ZZ Top poll, sometime this decade, the plan is to compile all the votes from the SDMB & post them in a few threads. Then I’ll burn a several volume CD set & mail ‘em out to the voters who helped keep these threads going. The scrap-heap of past polls continues to grow: Captain Beefheart (& His Magic Band) § Nick Cave (& The Bad Seeds) § Leonard Cohen § The Cars (Benjamin Orr, Rick Ocasek) § Neko Case (& Her Boyfriends) / New Pornographers § Canned Heat § J J Cale § Johnny Cash (& The Tennessee Two) § Cab Calloway § Dave Clark Five § The Bonzo (Doo-Dah) Dog Band§ Cake§ Beck (Hanson) § Jimmy Buffett § Jeff Buckley § The Byrds § Buffalo Springfield § Bush § Kate Bush § Jackson Browne § James Brown § Better Than Ezra § Banarama § David Bowie / (Tin Machine) Boston § Bon Jovi § Blur § Belle & Sebastian§ Blue Öyster Cult § Blondie§ Blink 182§ Black Sabbath§ The Black Crowes§ Bjork / Sugarcubes§ B-52’s§ Chuck Berry§ Beastie Boys§ Jeff Beck§ The Band / Robbie Robertson§ The Beach Boys§ The Beatles§ The Animals§ Tori Amos§ The Allman Brothers§ AC/DC § Abba& Aerosmith polls.

5th: Week 30 Results:
Tabulation Notes: A lot more Nick Cave & Leonard Cohen votes than I expected. The Captain Beefheart turnout was a little disappointing. Almost every track on all 3 polls are songs you’ll rarely, if ever hear on the airwaves. The selections this week were imaginative and diverse…great job.
The accounting department at the 6@6 corporate offices tried to be careful to not screw up the results…like they did with the Beatles “Day in The Life / A Day in the Life”…if you find any errors please report them.

Thanking you all in advance. Welcome back to the mainstream. I hope to see some of you at the Alice In Chains and Cheap Trick polls. Have a great week!

  1. I’m Eighteen
  2. (I don’t know the title) - the song with the dentist’s drill
  3. School’s Out

  2. I’m Eighteen
  3. School’s Out
  4. Refrigerator Heaven
  5. Don’t know the title, but it has the lyric “She asked my why the singer’s name is Alice/I told her she wouldn’t understand.”
  1. I’m Eighteen

  3. Elected
  4. Billion Dollar Babies

  1. School’s out
  2. Elected
  3. Only women bleed
  4. How you gonna see me now
  5. Halo of flies
  6. No more Mr Nice guy

Halo of flies is a stunning 8+ minutes track from the album Killer. It was released as a single (the full 8+ min… probably still the record) in Holland and made the top 10.

  1. Halo of Flies
  2. Devil’s Food
  3. School’s Out
  4. Muscle of Love
  5. Elected
  6. You Drive Me Nervous God, I love that song!

  3. No More Mr. Nice Guy [sub](Which reminds me…Where is the Pat Boone Thread???) D&R[/sub]
  4. Generation Landslide
  5. I’m Eighteen
  6. School’s Out
I lucked into playing 9 holes of golf with AC a few years ago. We were in a foursome, and he was way better than I. However, he was a hell of nice guy, offered me a few tips, and at the end of the round he signed my bag: “Your game is my nightmare -Alice”
  1. Sex, Death and Money
[sub]It’s the Gospel here in Dragontown[/sub]
  2. My Stars
    [sub]All I need’s a holocaust to make my day complete[/sub]
  3. No More Mr. Nice guy

  6. Generation Landslide
[sub]And I laughed to myself at the men and the ladies, who never conceived of us Billion Dollar Babies[/sub]

And Workin’ Up a Sweat gets honorable mention.

In the Nick Cave poll, The Ship Song came in at 5th and 8th place. Hey, only two errors in 32 weeks ain’t bad.

Three mistakes (Beatles-A Day In The Life / Black Sabbath-N.I.B. & Nick Cave-The Ship Song) are totally unacceptable (if it had been Abba it wouldn’t had bothered me as much). I just fired our beancounter here at the 6@6 corporate offices (which was a hard thing to do the day before Thanksgiving). Rest assured, Account Temps promised me they’d send a new staffer over by the time Monday rolls around.
