Top o' the Morning, A St. Patrick's Day MMP

I feel very sorry for people on the second floor today. There is quite enough noise here on the first floor caused by roof work.

In the continuing saga of compromised credit cards, I got a text today about a purchase of $46 at a local kettle corn store. Momentary panic set in until I checked the link - it was charged to a Mastercard (which I don’t have) under someone else’s name. So I’m guessing it was a mis-entered phone number. So Whew!

It’s been a lazy day, apart from cleaning the bathroom and changing the bed linens. I did crochet a shower scubby - I’ll try it out in the morning to see if it’s any better than the ones I buy. It gave me something to do while watching TV.

Now, what to do for supper? Pizza maybe?

Yes, Walmart people, Magic Shell is an ice cream topping. It’s still not a good idea to bag the two together. Had to remelt the Magic Shell.

Quiet yet irritating day here today. Got the monthly email from the power and gas company with my bill. It doesn’t reflect my last payment from over 2 weeks ago. Gonna have to call them on Monday. Yay for time on hold. Made it to Aldi and the regular grocery store. Burgers tonight and pot roast tomorrow. Time for some tv and turning the brain off.

Tomorrow shall be a day of drafting out a new project. I’ve been asked to build the host area of a restaurant and I need to draw up what the physical area actually is, then insert what I’m going to make. It’d be much easier to just get drawings and build, but not gonna happen.

Stay safe all.

You are correct about the hardware / lawn and garden places shoe. I stopped at Lowe’s for a couple of items (which, BTW, didn’t work out, so I’ll have the pleasure of returning) and it was packed.

Got the groceries bought and put away, did a kitchen cabinet project, having to rethink the project, given that the above items were ~1/8" too tall for my shelves. The laundry is done, save the load of towels in the dryer

The cheap Chinese place down the street fixed supper. Now for some chillage.

Howdy Y’all! We did manage to go to the local bar for a burger ‘n beer for N.O,L. I really, really, really, did not want to get dressed in proper out and about attire, but I’m glad I did. Really enjoyed bein’ there. Other than that 'twas sloth day.

Evening all. Soccer was confusing this morning (some people thought the fields were closed, only a couple of them were, spent time sorting that out) and ended up going to the fields at 9am to check on the 7U teams I’m coordinator for. Then walked uphill to referee a soccer game at 10:30, watched another game at 12, coached at 2pm (we lost 1-4) and then drove to another park to coach at 4:30, again having to climb another hill.(we won 4-2). Got home around 6pm and immediately changed clothes and went out to eat, as I had no energy to fix anything and if I had, I would have fallen asleep while eating it. Home finally at 7pm and trying to stay awake a little longer so I get up at a reasonable hour tomorrow. Feel like a Norse God (Thor all over). Best thing was the weather was bright and cool (55-65F), just about perfect soccer weather.

Have read all the stories for today but retain minimum, except {{hugs}} to FCM/FCD, who are truly in a no-win situation…even if they move up to you, if they don’t like something (and there is always something), it’ll be ‘your fault’…hang it there, moving them is the right thing to do.

OK, hanging in there. All y’all take care.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 49 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 61 for the day with rain. Maybe. Or not. The big plan of the day is deheathenization. I have a hunk o’ pig in the slow cooker which shall get turned into bbq. The plan is to sup upon bbq sammiches, coleslaw, baked beans, and oven fries. Fartfest to follow. Other than that, there shall be sloth.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Off to play with Harriet today. Should be nice enough that we can play outside in the backyard for a lot of the afternoon, which will mean I will be a tad stiff and sore tomorrow. She likes to be lifted up to the monkey bars and to be caught jumping down. I did Basement School Friday and groaned Saturday morning when I tried to get out of bed, but it was a happy Grandma groan, albeit not suitable for young ears, which must be why it happens the next day.

I had a terrific day off yesterday - the right combo of relaxing & gettin’ shit done - without any anxiety or depression. Wow!

Back to irk today, for the next several days in a row. We’re short staffed or something, as my schedule is all wonky.

But it’s sunny, and warm-ish, and that usually puts customers in a good mood. If they have to wait, they seem less displeased if they can wait while sunning themselves.

… which is what Monkey and Nikki are doing right now.

Have a good day, y’all!

We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and saw our favorite server there - had a nice chat and persuaded her to get her shot. Yay! When we got back, FCD made copies of our shot cards - we’ll carry the copies in our wallets and the originals are filed with our important papers. Don’t want to lose them.

It started around 28° again this morning, but it’s supposed to get into the 60s. I’ll be playing in dirt later. I’ll add dirt to the raised bed and the planters, clean out the greenhouse, and clean the planters on the porch so they can be filled with petunias when it’s a tad warmer. I did run a load in the dishwasher this morning, and I may run to Food Lion while it’s still too chilly to work outside.

All the cruise lines are bombarding me with emails, and I found a cruise that really appeals. It’s round trip from Boston, hitting stops in Canada, Greenland, and Iceland - August of 2022. I think I’m going to book it. That’s what retirement’s about, right?

Meanwhile, some chillage shall ensue before I don my gardening gloves.

Happy Sunday!!

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and surfing the interwebs with a warm little dog in my lap.

Nothing much, save the usual Sunday chores slated for today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It looks quite pleasant outside, weather app says “Some people are like clouds. Once they fuck off, it becomes a beautiful fucking day” and promises me 10C/50F and cloudy all day. Sounds good to me, I don’t have any plans to be outside anyway.

Moooom sorry to hear about FIL’s fall, good to know that he was seen by the professionals though. Is there any chance a medic would ask about their “fitness” to live independently and follow it up?

Nothing much planned for today, cats are fed and watered, litter trays are clean, I have vacuuming to do and may squeeze in a workout later. Not my turn to cook tonight so all I have to do now is go and forage for lunch!

Ocala (where they live) is largely a retirement community, where hospitals and such are the main industry. I expect most health professionals there have seen it all and are accustomed to dealing with stubborn oldsters, so I doubt that anyone would say anything. And even if they did, MIL likely would ignore it and not mention it to us. I don’t think there’s a cure for stubborn.

Still too chilly to venture forth. I supposed I could put away the dishes that I had washed this morning… I suppose…

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today, so cleaning and dog walking day. Time for brunch.

Morning all. Up about 7am, dreams kept hitting the ‘no information here, please try again’ wall, so finally got up and brought the paper in. Need to seek sustenance shortly, probably get something from here rather than go out. It’s nice but cool (50’sF) and I need to rest from yesterday’s exertions.

FCM, that does sound like an interesting cruise…which company?

OK, onward into the day. Everyone have a good Sunday.

Holland America We did the Panama Canal with them - very nice cruise line.

FCD may be leaving for FL in the morning based on a call from his mom today that has him worried more than usual. We shall see. I ran to Food Lion for some groceries. I built a meatloaf that’s now in the freezer, and I just loaded the bread machine to make the oat-cranberry bread. If he goes, he can take it with him. If not, freezer.

So I won’t be going out till the bread is done, tho I might be able to clean up the planters on the back porch. It’s not a particularly messy job and it shouldn’t take too long.

Sorry to hear this. {{{FCM}}}

I’m breaking my mom’s rule about no work on Sundays and washing the bed linens. My new pillow from the cheapo store is from the Martha Stewart line, so I imagine it’s a little snobbish about freshly laundered sheets. Why, yes, COVID quarantine does have me anthropomorphizing everything. Why do you ask?

A friend back in Chicago is in a theater group, and I’ll be watching their production virtually today. Plus both chilluns will be calling today. And I’ll give the plants a drink.

Speaking of kids, my son texted yesterday and said since we’ll both be fully vaccinated by then, he’d like to come for Mother’s Day. Yippee!!! Haven’t seen him in 15 months because we’re both so high-risk, so I can’t wait. He’ll bring one of their dogs with him (the other hates cars), but his wife won’t be able to come because she won’t be vaccinated yet. Hopefully I’ll get to see her this summer. And I’ll definitely see my daughter in a few months. Hooray!

OK, you guys, tell me what’s so great about Cracker Barrel. The decor? The down-home food? I’ve only been there once–had a sandwich, which came on ordinary smallish supermarket white bread. Sides were extra, so I didn’t get any. I was unimpressed, but I know it must be ordinarily be great because people rave about it.

Mooooom, I bet your in-laws think you’re the cat’s pajamas. You’re so caring and send delicious homemade yummies. I hope your FIL will be OK and that FCD doesn’t need to make another trip.

What a great way to put it!

Doggio, glad you’re off today. I bet Gordie is, too.

Red, may I borrow your pup? Having a warm little dog in my lap sounds perfect today.

Boo, hope Harriet Day was a blast.

We go often. I wouldn’t call it great, but it’s not bad. FCD likes their breakfasts especially - good sized portions and generally good food. I usually get the egg sammich for breakfast because their meal combos are just too much food for me. My current disappointment is that they no longer offer sliced fresh apples as a side, and I don’t like the fried apples - too much sugar.

My favorite there (if they still do it) is the Friday Fish Fry - it was a nice sized piece of haddock with 2 sides (I’d usually get carrots and broccoli) and cornbread or biscuits. Their veggies are OK, if a tad overcooked, but I do like whatever it is they do to their broccoli. I think they cook it in a broth.

There’s nothing fancy about the food, but it’s decent, leaning towards the comfort-food end of the spectrum. And for us, a big part of the draw is Lisa - she’s worked at a couple of places that we’ve patronized and we really like her. We compare photos of grandkids when we have time.

I’ve got 4 mini-loaves rising. They’ll go in the oven in about 20 minutes. FCD wants hot dogs for supper - that’s easy. I’ll make salads on the side -we could both use the veggie matter.

Still don’t know if he’ll be heading south tomorrow. From what he told me, his dad’s doctor changed some of his meds, and it appears to have left him zombie-like. Honestly, I don’t expect him to live to the end of the year. I could be wrong…
