Top o' the Morning, A St. Patrick's Day MMP

Yay gotti!

… but there were big, soft flakes drifting down as we left after close tonight.

Everyone (else except me :confounded:) is getting their stimulus money, so lines have been insane last couple of days.

Right now, I’m decompressing a bit, then going back out to get some Taco Hell, since I am too tired to come up with any better ideas.

But I did scoop the litter box & got two loads o’laundry done before work, plus some general decluttering. Good enough for one day.

Someone remind me tomorrow morning that Pretzel really needs her (large, heavy) water bowl washed out & refilled.
I poured some water into it through her screen top - it wasn’t empty, just low - but I’m just too beat to deal further with it tonight.

Home again, home again, jiggety-jig.

Inquiring minds will be fascinated to know that I obtained a cholupa, which - despite all the stoner stereotypes about fast food, especially Taco Bell - never have I ever tried, in forty years on this planet.

It is … okay.

Well, I tried a new thing, albeit in a tiny & ultra mild way, and also put solid food into my belly - a constant, ceaseless goal.

I’ve also strapped my feet into bunion splints ( so sexy!! ) and am consoling myself over the rough coupla days lately at work with the soothing balm that is warm PJ pants & the knowledge that tomorrow, at minimum, no matter what, at least my comfy undies will be clean.

(Now there’s a slogan I can live by!)

Thanks for the reminder to check my own laundry. Can’t be sure it’s dry after DH wedged the washer load (including my masks!) in with the stuff still in the dryer. Did catch those cotton masks quickly enough that they do not seem to have shrunk. He’s normally smarter than the “dry a double load, when part of it was already dry” thing.

Sadly, lately it’s a tossup at Hades Annex whether the callers are actually smarter than the irkers of cows. Very few in either group class as intelligent life lately.

As Switzerland has managed to a) mess this up royally and b) is going into the third wave, I might also be in the running for being the last Mumper. I am hoping in May I might have an idea if I might get an appointment in June/July/August.

It’s a holiday in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Normally there are festivals. The only reason I remember that is that the Federal government is supposed to make an announcement on the 19th, and those living south of the Alps are rather perturbed that there’s official business going on during a local holiday.

Through one of those DNA programs, my mom has found some Irish roots, but growing up we never did much except wear some green. Since I moved out they started having corned beef and cabbage every year, but I don’t think I’ve ever had corned beef. Probably can’t find any here in Switzerland. Does having a meeting (remote, of course) with a bonafide Irish person count?

I believe it’s not possible to buy Guiness in my town, except at the bar, which is closed. I did have a bottle of Kilkenny but I think that was consumed.

We want to glass-in our patio, so we have to collect signatures from the other apartment owners (there are 8, and most have 2 people, so 14 signatures total). I spent 2 hours talking to one of my neighbors yesterday and was probably the first person in her apartment in the last year. I was masked, of course. The others did not take so long, but I did get some questions about the U.S. (are there really that many people who think Trump is great?) and I got to ooh and ahh over the kitchen plans of the upstairs neighbor. As that is in August maybe I can be in the office by then, since my office is directly next to my kitchen, which is directly under hers.

Today is cold, wet and gray. Good day for meetings from 8:00 - 18:00. I think I need more coffee.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 82 and mostly cloudy with possible rain. Or not. TWPTB are willy-nilly on this. Today laundry shall be accomplished. Grilled chikin Caesar (I know should have done that yestiddy) sallit and garlic cheesey bread shall comprise sup. That will be today’s activities.

Had a really good time at men’s steak night over to the church house last night. We have missed. So glad we can do this again.

gotti yay for gettin’ stuff removed and for the appointment to get stabbed! Also, yay for everybody else who can finally get appointments to be stabbed!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Finally had a pretty decent night of sleepage - not perfect, but decent. I’m showered, dressed, fed, and caffeinating. In a little bit, I’ll go start a fire in the basement (in the fireplace - no sassy comments from the peanut gallery!!!) to warm it up for the RoxStar. I don’t know how long I’ll have her today - her Papa gets shot around 10, then he has another appointment in early afternoon. Since she doesn’t nap any longer, I won’t get a break, tho after lunch, I can probably get her to sit quietly and watch TV or maybe even read her a book. We shall see.

The corned beef I stuck in the fridge yesterday isn’t anywhere close to thawed, so it’s sitting out at the moment. I don’t know how I’m going to cook it - next stop will be various recipe sites. We’ll have carrots and spuds and cabbage with it - that much for sure. So supper is decided.

It’s gray and dreary - temps are supposed to stay in the mid 40s - way below average - and rain is threatened sometime this afternoon. Here’s hoping this is the last gasp of winter. I am thankful we’re not dealing with the snow that folks west of us have been whomped with.

Happy Tuesday!

Good morning one and all. Snow actually fell for a couple, few hours yesterday morning and stuck for a bit too. It warmed up later, melted and then we had some hail. It’s supposed to be pretty wet week, I think.

The husband’s new computer arrived yesterday at 9:00 pm. We brought it in the house, unboxed it and let it sit for an hour or so to warm up in the house before we plugged it in. We got Windows installed and he was happily downloading his Steam stuff when I went to bed last night.

I am sooooo tired. I am positive I am coming down with a cold. I am trying hard to stave it off because I have a job interview on Friday and would result in a promotion if I got it. Ironically, it’s not really the job I want, but on the other hand, I don’t know if I’ve even made the list for the job I do want. I applied for this job on a whim and as sort of a test to see what they look for. I found out I had been referred for the job last month but hadn’t heard anything further, so I figured they had already found the people they wanted. Imagine my surprise when I received a call asking if I wanted to interview. As I said, I’d much rather have the other job I applied for, but it’s always good to have a backup plan.

Oy vay; today is going to be a long day; I can feel it.

I’m glad so many of you are able to get jabbed; I am months out from being able to obtain the jab/jabs. Ironic, considering I am on the downhill side of the 50s.

Up until I got the call for the job interview, I was thinking of asking for this coming Friday off. But between the interview and another much-needed meeting to work out some award logistics for staff along with some other stuff; I need to work on Friday. Who am I kidding? There will always be a reason I “need” to be working. Sigh. My summer leave can’t come soon enough.

I’m in the same boat. Our resident idiot of a governor has botched the vaccination process pretty badly (I live in Missouri, so it’s self-explanatory). My mom has been jabbed, but there is little hope of us regular folks being jabbed for several months. I’m 45 and though I have an underlying condition, it’s not a qualifying condition so I’m in the “everybody else” category, which is appropriate but I don’t have to like it.

Anyway…best of luck to you on your interview, I think. Sometimes having options is good; other times it’s downright unsettling. So I hope you have the outcome you want and that works best.

Today is grey and cruddy. The morning is packed with meetings, but I may have time to actually do what we talk about in those meetings later this afternoon. That sure would be nice. I’m feeling surprisingly good, though overlygirl somewhat jacked my routine this morning by getting up early for a shower. Having woken before anyone for the last 17 years, I’ve been programmed to assume that if someone is up early, they vomited. She just felt like washing her hair before school.

Thanks for the reminder, talky as I need to wash my hair, too.

The starlings that live/nest in my neighbor’s attic or wherever came back from their winter abode this morning. Guess how I could tell, before I opened the curtains or even got out of bed? Wanna guess?

(Gods, but they are noisy.)

Doesn’t look like I’ll get the jib-jab anytime soon, either.
A year ago, essential workers were “heroes” and “omg we loves you!” and now it feels like those of us forced to interact with the public and handle cash, day in & day out, are shit outta luck.

I’ll be honest, it’s weird to read about some of you going to a store for the first time in such a loooooong time, when I’m like, “Dude I practically LIVE in a store. I closed last night, and I open this morning.”

Not to mention, they seem to be asking for I.D. upon vaccination arrival - so I and many others are screwed on that front, as well.

Honestly, I kinda go “lah lah lah” :notes: mentally about this stuff. Otherwise, I’d drive myself utterly insane.

Well, having typed it out here last night, I remembered about Pretzel and her water bowl. Should maybe try to put away some of this clean laundry, too.

Then off to another day at irky-irk.

I say that. Also, ‘Tadaima!’

Morning all. Went to bed about 11:30pm, was awakened by a Thunderstorm at 3am, kidneys demanded evacuation at 5am and another storm came through at 6am. Finally got out of bed at 8:30, we’ll see if there was enough sleep amid the interruptions. 60F going to 72F and chance of rain, but really supposed to pour tomorrow. We shall see.

Nothing much on the agenda today, may actually do some house-cleaning, but may also lie down and nap…decisions, decisions. Don’t know if the parks will be open for soccer practice or not, they usually decide about 3-4pm.

taters, talky, shoe, hopefully your states will get their act together and the vaccines will start flowing in quantity.

taters, good luck on the interview. I took a job once in St. Louis that I thought was a dead end, but six months later I got transferred to what turned out to be my dream job and stayed there 27 years. So you never know…

Dicey, you never said if you got all 14 signatures or not? And neighbor(s) probably were overjoyed to have someone to talk to.

gotti, good news for you and the rest on the shots. Doc was a man of few words, i see…

Never attended Catholic School although both parents were Catholic and we attended Church every Sunday. Mom thought the classes were too crowded. So no uniform, just whatever normal clothes we wore in the 1950’s-60’s (memories are somewhat dim these days).

OK, Instant Breakfast has been consumed, so onward into the day.

I misread “this clean laundry” as “his clean laundry” and thought “Shoe is dressing Pretzel now? She’s done lost her mind!” Hmmmm … maybe I should start dressing Phoenix T. Cat & Twister T. Cat.

Back to your regularly-scheduled MMP …

Afternoon, mumpers! I’m happy to say that I have had no ill effects from jabbage apart from a rather sore arm. I was home from the vaccination centre within the hour (including a stop off at the pet shop on the way back), did a 50-minute workout, made dinner and emptied bins/recycling for today’s collection. Thus I have also hauled our biiiiiiiig bin to the pavement and back again.

It’s not looking too bad out there, weather app says “All the clouds are dirty, lurking fucking bastards” and promises me 11C/52F all day and mostly cloudy. Looks about right to me.

Nuts you might be right in your estimation, over here in the Wet Midlands we are into the 55+ category although I saw that Notts is now into the 40+ range. Obviously being a very youthful mumper, you’re behind the rest of us!

I have laundry in the machine at the moment, it’s almost finished so will have to unload it and hang it up shortly, it’ll be about time for another cup of tea by then. Highlight of the day is grocery shopping this evening, although I have done my fair share of being out and about in the last few days.

gotti good news on the removal and the shots, they are not wasting time getting you up and out again!

Taters best of luck with the interview, you never know where it might lead in the end.

Better get on…laundry, tea and a mahooooosive spreadsheet is my plan for the rest of the afternoon.

I submitted a correction request to a certain company. It was complicated, but I researched all of the BINs and wrote very detailed instructions. I received the completion notice and, as expected, they completely f------ bollocked it up. I fear I was a mite testy when I emailed them back.

I really don’t want to have to submit individual correction requests. To be sure they do what they’re supposed to, I would have to submit every correction one at a time and wait for a completion notice so that I could verify they made the correction before submitting the next request. If I have to do that, it will take six months!

They didn’t ask for ID of any sort either time I got jabbed. The feds will pay for anyone’s jab so they aren’t motivated very hard to ask for insurance info or much else. At most they might want to know that you actually live or work in that county or town, so a mailed utility bill or bank statement with your name and address would cover that.

We had to show ID, and FCD needs his Dr note since he’s underage at the moment. Then again, Merrylande has been handling the whole plague thing rather well, thanks to a governor who has his stuff together, even if he is a Republican. I’ve been very impressed with how he’s handled this whole mess.

Our stimulus money arrived in or account today - in another month, it’ll be going back to the Feds in the form of taxes we owe. Easy come, easy go… Roxy is doing her best to drive me crazy - I need to get back to wrangling her…

I guess every place IS doing jabs differently. Makes it hard when it doesn’t have to be but then that is the m. o. of guvmint work since time immemorial. I’m sorry for all us Mumpers that have to wade through the hassle.

I know I’ll breathe a big sigh of relief when the stimulus shows up in my bank account. Haven’t filed taxes yet so I sure hope they send it to the last place they sent it. Anybody out there know how they’re doing it? By the states alphabetically? By time zones, zip codes, eye colors?

Good morning, folks! Well, in my area, it’s morning for a few more minutes, anyway.

Things are progressing, as they should, around here. I’ve got one load of laundry in the washer, and one load in the dryer, with one more load to go. I’ve done dishes, manually, as always. I still need to vacuum, and I’ll call it a day. Well, after I fold all the laundry, and deposit it where it belongs. That’ll be it! I’m having a somewhat busy birthday, but, that’s how it goes. I can’t just sit around. It drives me the rest of the way insane. Ugh.

My husband, and I, got our vaccinations the past Saturday. Our second jab will be April 10th. I’m still going to be wary about not wearing a mask after this is all said, and done, though. I guess it’s just part of me, now. Good grief.
Oh, and today, the state of Indiana has issued a notice that 45+ are now eligible to get their first jabs!

Have a great day, everyone.
