Torchwood Coming To the US

I couldn’t find a post on this yet, but I just read that Season One of Torchwood will be coming to BBC America on Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

I’m not sure which season they’re referring to here, but this sounds pretty racy:
Sci-Fi Wire says:
John Barrowman, who plays Capt. Jack Harkness on the BBC’s Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood, told SCI FI Wire that a salacious comment made by guest star James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) at a recent convention about his character was a completely accurate description.

“That’s right,” Barrowman said in an interview at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 13. “‘You’re going to have to go finish yourself off at the end of it.’ And he’s absolutely right. And we filmed that three days ago, and it took 12 hours. I can’t tell you what that was like.”

That’s series 2, currently filming.

I’ve been catching the episodes online as much as I can, and frankly, I’m surprised that Torchwood’s going to be aired here. Man, that show’s pretty racy for American audiences.

It’s on the same channel as “Footballers’ Wives”, which I’ve never seen, but the impression I get from the ads is that it’s pretty racy, too.

Ligntnin’, how do you watch the episodes online?

It’s pretty racy, but I don’t know…I guess I expected it to be worse. Mostly it’s the swearing that strikes me, being used to sanitized American television it always blows my mind when someone suddenly says “Shit”.

I believe this board’s rules prohibit me explaining that.

[SUB]In my defense, I really didn’t expect that we’d be able to see them here in the US, like, ever. And when the shows are broadcast here, I’m going to watch them again… mostly just to see what they’re going to cut.[/SUB]

Haaarrrr, matey!!

We’ll be relying on you to keep us posted on what gets cut, if anything. BBC America’s run of “Doctor Who” has been free of the cuts inflicted by the SciFi channel, for what that’s worth, but SciFi’s cuts were silly anyway. BTW BBC America is starting the second series of “Doctor Who” on the same night as “Torchwood”.

I don’t know if or how BBC America censors sex or violence; I don’t watch racy or violent shows much, and even if I did I haven’t seen the UK originals. I do know that frontal nudity gets blurred but bare backsides don’t necessarily. I certainly know, from “Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares” and “The Graham Norton Show”, that they’re easygoing on language. The F word gets bleeped, but little else does. Last week Ramsay called a restaurant “the shithole del Sol” and told its chef “this is about the food, it’s not about your balls or the size of your cock” without a bleep to be heard.
