Totally Inappropriate Crushes on Children's TV Stars

First of all, I’m not talking about crushes by current adults on CHILD TV stars. If you have one of those I don’t want to know about it. Seriously.

I’m not too much older than the original “Saved By the Bell” cast, and had a major crush on Slater (Mario Lopez). Five times hotter than Zack was, and still is. I had a moment when I saw him in the Speedos in the Greg Louganis movie.

I’m also currently nursing a major crush on Donovan Patton, who plays Joe on Blue’s Clues. It’s kind of embarassing to be caught watching a cartoon dog show aimed at 3-year-olds just to catch Donovan in action…

What are your inappropriate crushes on children’s TV stars?

“Inappropriate”? When I was three, I wanted to marry Mr. Green Jeans when I grew up. That was my first celebrity crush.

Talk about being into older men!

When I was 6 I had a brief crush on Lady Aberline from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.

Does that count?

About eight years ago, there was a live-action series on the Disney channel called Adventures in Wonderland. I had a young child at the time, so that was my excuse for watching it every day. I was developing a serious obsession with the guy who played the Mad Hatter. Fortunately, the series went off the air before things evolved to the point that I was mailing him fan letters written on a pair of my panties or something.

I also had a mild crush on Steve from Blue’s Clues. Possibly I was spending too much time without adult companionship at that point in my life.

twickster, Mr. Green Jeans was HOT!

One among the many good reasons for watching Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego was the hotness of several of the members of Rockapella. Host Greg Lee wasn’t at all hard on the eyes either for that matter. I watched probably more episodes of She-Ra than anyone my age should have because Bo was hot. And I have shame-facedly confessed my attraction before to Wakko Warner.

But I dispute the notion that any of the above is inappropriate.

A friend of mine who has a three year old crushes on one of the Wiggles. Given the amount of time she’s forced to spend watching the Wiggles, I think she essentially was forced to find at least one of them attractive, just in self-defense.

Me too! Anthony Wiggle is hot.

I have a big crush on his voice actor, Rob Paulsen, at least just for the sheer talent. Mmmm.

I crushed on Steve before “Joe” came along on Blue’s Clues. At least at the time my son was a toddler and I had an excuse.

I don’t know who he is or what he looks like, but the voice of the guy who does “Father” on the cartoon Codename: Kids Next Door always gets me moist.

I had big crushes on both the little blonde dish from ‘The Bugaloos’(which was in rerun when I first watched it) and Dyna-Girl from ‘Electra Woman and Dyna Girl’.

For some reason, even at my young age, I had fantasies about Dyna-Girl doing naughty naughty things when she was under the ‘mind control’.

I’ll be back in my shame ridden hole now.

Otto, I’m an idiot. Mixing up my voice actors here - Paulsen voiced Yakko, not Wakko. Jess Harnell voices Wakko, and if you hit the Comedy Central network and find the Drawn Together video lists, you can see Harnell discuss his voicing of Captain Hero.

Ooo, excellent choice - IMDb says that’s Maurice LaMarche, who has done nearly as much voice work as the aforementioned Rob Paulsen, often on projects with him - for instance, LaMarche voiced The Brain on Animaniacs.

When my daughter was little, I spent far too much time trying to decide which of the Kratt Brothers (from Kratt’s Creatures and Zaboomafoo) was the hottest. Where are thse guys now? They seem to have fallen into post-PBS obscurity, which is obscurity indeed. I am home with another round of kids and there are no Kratts to populate my imagination.

Well, any of it is kind of viscerally inappropriate because these people are your kids’ “friends”…regardless of their actual age, the entire milieu in which you see them all the time is playground/kindergarten/preschool type of stuff. That kind of unofficially makes them 3 years old, and, well…

I had a crush on TopCat (I wanted to be a close friend and get to call him “TC”). I can’t believe I admitted that to you guys.

Hey, the Kratt brothers are hot!

Kratt brothers

Oh god, me too!

Then you should watch the episode of The Tick titled “The Tick vs. Reno, Nevada.” It’s the same voice that The Fin had.

He looks like a young Jay Leno.

Ooh, that reminds me that I had a brief thing for Jeff Corwin when my daughter was little.
