Totally Inappropriate Crushes on Children's TV Stars

I have a crush on Alyson Court, better known a Loonette the Clown from the Big Comfy Couch.
Rawr!

I didn’t have a thing for her, but I do remember thinking she was very pretty. And that further reminds me: The other clown on the show, the tall, lanky guy…RAWR!

When I was five I liked Annette Funicello on the original Mickey Mouse Club quite a lot, though I didn’t know why. I also thought it would be good to (literally) sleep with her, though I didn’t know why.

God I’m old.

I like to say that the only reason I watched that show was for Lady Aberlin.

Jennifer Peterson-Hind from the show Hi-5 can eat crackers in my bed anytime.

Hi five!

Er, even a “high” “hi five”. Dammit.

But, yeah. Used to work third shift and Comfy Couch was the last thing on tv before I went to bed for the day.

When I was young, I developed a crush on a local television program celeb.

I’m much older now and have clearly grown past such things.

Her name? Well, Nurse Carmen. Why do you ask?

I’m suprised no one’s mentioned Xuxa yet…

She looks a bit, um, alarmed there.

I don’t think one can get a crush on Xuxa. One can I suppose lust after her or one can be completely indifferent, but a crush seems unlikely.

I’m more of a Captain Feathersword woman, myself…

Although he doesn’t actually appear in any of the shows except as a voice, I have a little crush on Mike Nawrocki, one of the VeggieTales creators (I rent the DVDs just to hear him babble on the commentary. Yeah, it’s weird.).

I second (or third, or however-many) the above mentions of Steve from Blue’s Clues and the Kratt brothers.

When I was young, there was this anime-type thing that used to come on. I’ve seen it in the stores now, but can’t remember? Rocket-something? Anyway, I had a huge crush on the main (cartoon) character boy of that.

I was worried that I’d be the first to mention having a crush on an animated character in here, but I forget with whom I’m dealing.

I had a major thing for Penny from Inspector Gadget when I was a kid, and I used to fantasize (as much as a 12 year-old understands the concept of fantasizing) about kicking Brain out of the picture so that Penny and I could solve mysteries together. Whee!

hubba hubba

I just want to say that it is totally f’d up that she’s been doing that character on Sesame Street for 18 years, and I’ve never heard of her.

I mean, I don’t have kids, but Sesame Street to me was Gordon, Mr. Hooper…all that. She’s NEW!!

And, I see I’m agreeing with the lot of you…but that Krofft Superstars ride I just took freaked me OUT. The seventies were a strange time, indeed.

Oh yeah. Forget the Wiggles, give me the pirate! Argh!

“Well, blow me down!”

I worked with a woman who worked with Annette on a project. She said Annette was the sweetest, nicest person she had ever met, and thoroughly professional, despite her illness (multiple sclerosis).

Personally, I learned more toward Darlene, thinking she might make a great older sister.
