Totally Inappropriate Crushes on Children's TV Stars

Isis , baby Isis .
The best legs ever in a children’s program.

She’s the host of the “Best of Ernie and Bert” collection, which I have watched many, many times, and not just because of Ernie on the moon or Bert’s W lovers.

The earliest childhood sexual fantasy that I can recall was about Don Herbert, TV’s beloved “Mr. Wizard.”

Now that I see Don Herbert again, those old feelings are coming back. Hubba hubba.

I had crushes on cartoons as a child:

Pac Man (I was very upset when he married Pepper)
Handy Smurf
Egon Spengler (from the cartoon… I think it was that windtunnel hair-do)
Pidge (Voltron)

I was a geek who crushed on the geeks.

Today? Well, I have no problem looking at LeVar Burton, from Reading Rainbow. And though it has nothing to do with crushes, I find myself watching Sagwa, Boobah, and Hamtaro much more often than I probably should.

Speed Racer! That was it. The main character in there.

Vivian Bayubay (far right).

My kids loved that show and let me just say that when Loonette did the clock stretches…well sometimes daddy had to leave the room:)

That would be Major Bedhead.

Faboo!

Oh yeah! I have been missing her since we dropped expanded cable.

Me too. Big time.

Hell yeah, Mike, I wish it was 8:20 all the time. Yeah baby!

She can leave the stockings on.

Penny! I almost forgot about her. I was probably 8 at the time, and the only reason I watched Inspector Gadget was for Penny. Who could blame me? She was smart, capable, cute, and great with a computer(book) – my preadolescent fantasy of the perfect girl.

My two year old niece, Savannah, is obsessed with “Michael” from Barney. You know, the blonde headed “actor” (and I use the term very loosely) who could legally vote by the time he finally left that insipid show. All we hear all day is, “Michael, Michael, Michael.”

I hate Barney with a passion. I hate the child actors from Barney even more. It kills me that Savannah adores this guy so much.

I second the Loonette thing, although I don’t think it was innappropriate since it was more of a “cute” thing than a “hot lustful” thing even though I was fully grown. However…

I had a little of that, too. However, when I got older I realized, when hearing the show with my head turned, that the voice actress playing Penny has a really sexy voice (which sounds like she’s a sultry 22-28 yrs old when detached from the video). Which is inappropriate for me to think about considering the character she’s playing. But when the video’s not on…rawr!

I had absolutely shameful thoughts about Batman (Adam West) that, if I remember correctly, culminated into my first “O” at like 7.

OMG, so did I. I thought I was the only one in the whole world.

I had always suspected there was someone really cute underneath the clown makeup… but I had no idea…

[sub]and she’s all of 8 days younger than me…[/sub]

Along similar lines: Louise “Stevie” Vallance as Whazzat Kangaroo on Zoobilee Zoo.

I’ll have to second (third? Fourth?) Steve from Blues Clues (I have his CD), the Kratt brothers and Captain Feathersword.

My son isn’t all that into Zooboomafoo but I still turn it on whenever I remember its on…

Oh, yeah! Me too!

I think my lifelong attraction to the anime art style (particularly the pretty boys!) was born the first time I watched ol’ Speed back when I was a wee tot.

Racer X wasn’t bad, either.
