I thought this was funny. Get a “tramp stamp” and guess what? Guys are more likely to think you are a tramp!
WTF did you gals think it’s called a tramp stamp in the first place?

This just in from the “Duh!” file.
Tangent: I must confess I went years hearing the phrase “tramp stamp” and had no idea what it meant… that’s because I first heard those particular tattoos called “cum catchers”, and assumed that was their agreed-upon name. Made sense to me and even today I have to stop myself from correcting people when I hear the phrase “tramp stamp”.
Man. You learn something new every day on the dope. Not that it is something you can share with anyone but still.
And yeah that duh! file is overflowing.
From Wedding Crashers: **Tattoo on the lower back? Might as well be a bullseye. **
Cracked.com’s tattoo article:
Lower-back tattoo means, “Yes, buying me a drink will totally work.”
Uhhhhhh, that’s an interesting takeaway from that link.
Ladies, we know that fiery ying-yang tattoo on your lower back truly represents the emotional revelations you experienced in Tampa, but according to a study by a professor at the Universite de Bretagne-Sud, men think your tramp stamp means you’ll have sex on the first date.
It says that guys will assume said women are going to have sex on the first date. Where’s the data showing that the women with ‘tramp stamps’ are more likely to actually have sex on the first date?* Otherwise, that’d mean a woman’s actual behavior and actions have no bearing on her ‘tramp status’ because it really hinges on unfounded assumptions held by (individual) men. That sounds pretty fucked up.
Oh, and I noticed that your linked article is just a summary of a different article … At the ever so respectable and reliable Daily Mail.
Who are you arguing with? The OP said “guys are more likely to think you’re a tramp.” You’ve paraphrased what he said and are arguing against a point nobody made.
I fail to see why women should feel stupid for an assumption made by horndogs.
Tramps be tramping.
Just saying.
The thread’s title, created by the OP. Sure, titles have to be shorter and catchy, but if he didn’t actually mean “tramp stamp = tramp”, I’d expect the actual post to start with something like … Or at least that’s what’ll be assumed!" Since no contrast was made between the title and the first paragraph, it’s not unreasonable to think the two are connected to the OP.
The phrase “who knew?” is commonly used with the meaning to indicate sarcasm or :dubious: or similar.
What if they don’t know I have a “tramp stamp”, because I am not wearing revealing clothing and I don’t make it a point to tell them? That tattoo is older than the current label, so maybe I’m too old to be called a tramp. Geez, I hate to be confusing about my sexual availability.
You’re never too old to be a tramp. But you can be too old to take your clothes off.
Thanks for the update, dude.
Oh, you silly thing! Don’t you know a man’s opinion of a woman is all that matters, and her entire self-worth is linked to how a group of random assholes see her? It’s not like women have agency, or are people, or anything crazy like that. Women are just mirrors, reflecting back the opinions men bestow upon them. Her actions are completely beside the point.
I have a “tramp stamp”. Do I show it off to random people? No. Does it happen to show when I’m wearing a bathing suit or warm weather clothing? Yes. I normally don’t get too PC when it comes to stuff like this, but I find it incredibly offensive that anyone would assume I’m easy because of where I chose to have a tattoo on my own body. Give me a break.
But then again my tattoo does say “I’m Easy” in pretty script letters…
Where did you get “Like Sunday morning” tattooed?
What if the tattoo says “If you can read this you’re too close.”?
Anyway.
We’ve had these threads before and the most cogent points I remember have been that the devil’s in the details. How is the tattoo being displayed? With a thong showing above a low riding hot pink spandex legging? Or otherwise showing with a reasonable outfit from say J Jill?
There was also the point that tattoos indeed used to signify some rebelliousness and sexual behaviors sometimes went along with that mindset; now having a tattoo is a sign of conformity, of fitting in.
When it comes to tramp stamps, the question is who is fitting what in where.
