Problem is, I don’t see how this describes her outside of the trans issue. I never found her particularly abrasive on other topics before this became the vast majority of what she talked about. And in the one unrelated post I’ve seen from her since the trans issue became her pet topic, it was a very nice post in the Pit to a guy complaining about how men were mistreated.
I know she attacked me for trying to defend trans people. She didn’t refute anything I said–she said some very hateful stuff about trans women being men, and claimed that my support of Trans people would help Trump win the election.
I know she called people misogynist or out to harm women for being pro-trans. She claimed iiandyiiii said the exact opposite of what he said, so she could call him a misogynist. And I know what she said when an actual trans poster revealed the mental health issues she had. In my opinion, she well crossed the line on the number 1 rule here.
I’ll admit I don’t know a lot about what she said in the latest thread. I do know what I did read was off topic, and was mostly TERF propaganda. It involved “detransitioners” and saying that we (i.e. not trans people or their doctors) need to decide whether transitioning is actually advantageous or not. I was ready to post “Aren’t you pro-choice? Shouldn’t bodily autonomy apply?” but the thread had been closed.
I used to look forward to YWTF’s posts. But, once she got obsessed with the trans thing, she seemed like a completely different poster. I even at one point wondered if she’d been hacked. She’s so different than the poster I remember and admired. (It was the nice post I mentioned above that seemed more like her–actually caring about bigotry against someone even if it didn’t apply to her.)
As for how the board treats other forms of bigotry–I agree it used to tolerate a lot of stuff. But I would argue things have changed a lot on that front. When was the last time you had to “duke it out”? Because a lot of that stuff is banned under the new GD rules. We’re less tolerant of bigotry, in large part because a lot of us (including you, I believe) have pushed the mods to do more about it.
But mostly it just seems to me that what you call “abrasive” about YWTF’s posts is actually a violation of the “Don’t be a jerk” rule. And it is not how she has posted in the past. Outside this topic, she does seem to get the memo about empathy.
