Travelogue -- a New World MMP

Beautiful adorable baby! Mine will be cuter.

rigs, I definitely am pregnant. Ten pounds heavier, and puffy. According to my step-MIL, I’m going all glowy, which is nice.

Packing, chores, rushing around. We just got a big pretty wooden computer desk from Mr. Lissar’s parents, and have been assembling and filling it, and generally tidying.

A friend’s coming over for coffee in a few minutes, and then we might Battlestar Galactica and head for bed.

Okay. I’ve been delinquent in my MMP duties. But I have a good reason. An abscessed tooth. It started up yesterday while at work and got progressively worse as the day wore on. By the end of the day it had reached a point where it was hard to concentrate on anything else. I’d popped a bunch of extra strength Tylenols. (Too many, really; 12 while I was at work alone.) When I got home, I popped the last Tylenol 3 we had in the place, plus a couple of 222s. (222s are OTC 325mg acetaminophen tablets with 15mg of Codeine – I don’t think you can get those outside of Canada, at least not without a prescription.) A few hours later, 3 more 222s. In fact, I took so much that I was nearing toxic levels. (about 8.5 grams ingested the whole day) My chest hurt. But it was better than my tooth. (Anyone who has had a toothache can probably sympathize.) Extra strength Anbesol didn’t help. Even today, though I’ve only taken 6 222s all day (2g, plus 90g codeine) my blood pressure seems to be up as there’s a ringing in my ears (probably residual from yesterday). Amazingly I managed to find a comfortable enough position that was able to get a bit of sleep last night – two or three hours, anyway.

Fortunately I have the stuff to treat and abscess. Several-times-daily swabs of Dequadin (Dequalinium chloride) oral paint. I’ve gotten a couple of abscesses before, so I’ve learned to keep it on hand – it works like a charm. As of today (I took the day off) it’s more swollen than yesterday but it hurts a lot less, which means the Dequadin is doing its job. Although it’ll still be swollen to some degree tomorrow, I should be good enough to work and talk on the phone with minimal (or anyway manageable) pain. It should clear up by the end of the weekend. As it stands right now I can’t eat much as the swelling has displaced the tooth such that I can’t bite down all the way because that tooth gets in the way – to unpleasant results – but the pain is at a dull ache with a slightly sharp (kind of itchy, actually) edge. I can live with that.

So, that’s why I haven’t been around the last couple of days. I just haven’t had the energy or sense of concentration. I mostly just tried to occupy my time browsing the hell out of Jayisgames or drooling over toys on Engadget.

With any luck I’ll be my usual self forthwith.

Awww, {{{Mork}}}. . . that sounds definitely ouchie! Can the dentist do something to eliminate the pain?

You really are a geek if you’re drooling over gadgets! Or are you just drooling period from the pain?

I hope you’re back to your old self soon. Meantime, I’m playing on your lawn.

He can either extract the tooth (I’d rather not or I’d be off work another day because I’d be thalchig lig thith wif a big wab ob cottom im my mouf. Or he could prescribe penicillin, which would work too – but that amounts to virtually the same thing as the Dequadin (both are intended to kill bacteria; Dequadin just happens to specialize in mouth infections) and maybe some Tylenol 3s, which would have probably been nice, but I think having come within a foot or two of taking a lethal doze of acetaminophen the last couple of days, I’ll pass.

Well, there was certainly a lot of drooling involved when I applied the Dequadin – you have to swab it on and leave it there for a few minutes so it can get busy – but yes, I drool over toys, too. I’m a guy. It’s my job.

Mind the gophers. They’re mean, and they’re trained to go for the hamstring.

You don’t look pregnant at all. I looked 10 months gone by about month 4 all three times…

And I just wanted to say that I am hurt that my sex life including the paint bucket AND the chickens is fair game here in the MMP. I thought you all were supposed to be nice, dammit! but no, make fun of someone just a bit different that yourselves…

So what is everyone’s opinion about taking stuff and putting it into boxes? Because boy, oh, boy do I have a great activity for you.

In other news, moving sucks

Ooooh, Mork, that much Tylenol is scary. Hope you continue to feel better.

Yay for the new baby, kai! She’s gorgeous.

Paint bucket? Chickens? Intriguing.

Welcome back, Jahdra! We missed you. And yay on the end of the assignment.

Putting stuff into boxes in NOT FUN. I’m never moving again. I hope. The one good thing about moving is that it forces you to go through accumulated stuff and possibly weed some of it out. I’m slowly learning to do that without the part where I’m moving.

That was a nice picture of both of you, LiLi and Hank.

I just finished watching The Birdcage. I still like it. I’d forgotten who all was in it besides Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.

Gas is all reconnected again, but they haven’t filled in the holes where they replaced the main line and worked on my line. So all the barricdes are still up.

Almost forgot! We don’t have anyone lined up for any of the next 3 Mondays. I can do one of them, but don’t have a preference. Anyone else want to jump in?

I’m tired, so I think I’ll wander off to sleep.

GT

I’m home! Work went OK. It’s 91 now at 11:00P.M.

Congrats grandma kaiwik!

Hope you tooth gets better soon, mork
Today is an ideal time to
water your personal garden

IN BED! <snerk>

If2X, next time I move, I’m burning everything that doesn’t fit in my car.

Roo, I thoought you said grope hug. I got my hopes up for nothing.

Thanks Doggio. The pain is almost gone now, and the swelling is going down, too – I actually ate a bowl if chili tonight! Carefully, mind you, but I ate it. That’s one beneficial side effect of this at least. I drank one coffee and one tea and ate only a frozen pizza at lunch yesterday, then nothing else. Today I had a bowl of Cream of Celery soup for lunch, and chili for dinner, plus a few cups of tea. For the last two days I’m at least operating on a pretty decent calorie deficit!

GT - Yes, it was kinda scary. For about an hour or so my chest felt like it was making a half-hearted attempt to implode, which pretty much told me that I’d better cut it the hell out or I’d be headed for a coronary. I actually read up a bit on the LD50 of acetaminophen, and it seems some people can die from as little as 4g, though more commonly, 10g is the average toxicity level. I was 3 extra strength tabs away. (Not that I’d likely drop dead on the spot after the third tablet like Vizzini after he took the Iocaine-laced tea, but liver problems could have been very likely.)

Well, off to bed shortly. Night all.

Beautiful baby, Grandma Kai!

Libby’s memorial service was lovely! Since it was held in her church it did involve religion but it was of the more uplifting positive sort, none of the hellfire and damnation stuff I hate so much. And they said lots of nice and true things about our Libby. A tenor soloist sang two songs - I don’t know the name of the first one but the second was “Amazing Grace” which always makes me cry because I had it played at my mother’s memorial. A bunch of us went back to Libby’s apartment with her sisters, where we told Libby stories for a while. I was waiting for the call that the van was ready so I could take D to go pick it up, when we found out we wouldn’t be able to get it until after 5. So I went home at around 4, planning to try to lie down for an hour. Got home and the answering machine is having hysterics and the new phone I was supposed to have to sign for was lying on the porch. Answering machine told me that librarian friend is almost having hysterics because Neo-Nazis are picketing the library, and she can’t leave to go home and feed her very spoiled cats who must be fed between 5 and 6. Called her and told her I would feed, no problem. Answering machine told me my husband was sick and would be going to Doc-in-the-Box when he got off work. Called him and talked to him. Went to get SIM chip from old phone to put in new phone; no SIM chip. Called place where I took old phone to be repaired; they have SIM chip, so I have to drive halfway across town to go get it. Get back home in time for the phone to ring telling me the van is ready.

What nap?

Go pick up van, go feed spoiled cats, get home in time to see sick husband who decided not to go to the doctor tonight. He’ll go if he doesn’t feel better tomorrow. Call from librarian friend; the Neo-Nazis (both of them, father and son)(anyone stupid enough to stage a protest in 100 degree heat is way beyond stupid) were protesting because the library wouldn’t lift the filters on the computers to let them view hate-speech sites.

I think I will sleep well tonight. I didn’t last night.

I have a Pitting I am about to put up in the Pit, ya’ll are welcome to stop in for some serious ranting.

Ouch on the tooth, Mork! But be careful with the Tylenol. Seriously. It doesn’t kill you fast. Some years back, a friend’s daughter decided to kill herself and took half a bottle of Tylenol. She ended up in the hospital for several weeks on death’s doorstep with serious liver damage – and it would not have been a pleasant way to go, certainly not what she was looking for – and was told her liver would never be normal again; she’d destroyed about 75% of it’s functioning ability. So please be careful!!

I’ve had a dull and boring evening. My favorite kind. Except now we’ve got more weather moving in. It’s a good thing snowbunny moved out so I can sleep in what used to be her room, just in case Rusty freaks out (since we don’t allow the dogs in our bedroom – the last thing we need is 180 lbs of dogs trying to share the bed with us!). I’m hoping the storms either fizzle or miss us, like the weather this morning did. But we shall see.

Egads. That’s horrible. Does that mean she has to go in for dialysis? Not pretty at all. Yeah, I was kinda-sorta partially knowledgeable about its toxicity, but when you’ve got tooth pain – which is quite unlike any other pain for its severity and concentration in such a small area – you tend to take risks that might otherwise not seem reasonable. I don’t think I got to the point where I damaged anything – I certainly feel fine, and if Tim Hortons’ chili isn’t giving me any problems then I must be okay. I won’t likely be doing that again anytime soon though. Now that I’ve actually read up on it I’ll limit myself accordingly if and when this sort of thing happens again.

I just read that in the Pit, I haven’t kept up on MMP this week, but I just wanted to share my condolences. I don’t need to add my opinion of the person(s) you Pitted because it’s pretty clear what kind of person (people) they are.

Just for you, we can have a group grope hug. I don’t think Dotty will participate. Lunch will balk but he’ll probably go along. Here we go:

:::group grope hug:::

And with that, I’m off to bed. Good night everyone!

(Lunch and doggio, don’t stay too long in the hug after I’m gone)
(Lunch and Dotty, good morning!)

kai I just spent a few minutes staring at Mattea and goin’ AWWWWWW. She is seriously keeeeeeeeeee-yooooooooote! Now go be a good grandma and start spoilin’, young lady! I mean it! She’s not going to spoil herself you know! Don’t look at me like that! Get Busy!

gt I was goin’ to do an entire post on how I should be the person who answers the Miller complaint line. Since we don’t have anyone lined up for Monday, I do believe I could make a quite entertainin’ OP out of it. So, I’ll up for Monday if that’s jake with everybody. I promise. My ideas are quite entertainin’. And it will come complete with backstory! What’s not to like?

Ok, I’s a tahred bear, so it’s quaff a beerverage and off to beddy bye with me.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

I anxiously await the voting on my offer.

Hello everyone.

Congrats Kai, your granddaughter is a cutie.

Mork, dude…be careful! I’m sorry you were in such misery, but jeeze Louise, you could have shut yourself down for good. I’m glad to read that the pain is improving some.

So, I steamcleaned the great room and the carpet looks much, much, much better. I still hate it though. The builder of this home must have went with just about the cheapest berber and pad around. Thank Og that the builder only put the berber there. I would have lost my mind by now if it was anywhere else in the house. Someday, there will be hardwood flooring. Probably not until the kids are gone, but someday.

Tomorrow, I just may try to actually do the den, but it’s difficult when everyone is trying to use the 'puters in here.

I’m a little tired. Guess I’ll mosey on over to a couple of other forums, then watch some TV.

someone remind me - whose nickname is Lunch?

Welcome Baby Mattea Elizabeth!

That’s Roo’s new nickname for me – started with the resemblance of my handle to “Noon” and deteriorated rapidly…

Speaking of whom – Good Night, Roo! Sorry I’m late (and just driving by, too)
And why should I balk at a “grope hug?” Oh… you said “Group Grope…” Nah, how about just a private one?

Appropriate yays, boos, Good Nights and Good Mornings to everybody else (hell, Roo, I’ll include you here too- you get a “Good Night” twice :))

Off on my errands… see y’all later today (probably when the Americans are up and about already, or at least starting to stir)

Up and caffeinating, and off to work!

Ahhh, yes…we have a volunteer for Monday.

All in favor of swampy launching next week’s MMP say “Aye!”

Aye!

All opposed?
::crickets::

We have a winner! Woo hoo!!!
