I believe there are detailed MMP rules of travel. When traveling, remember to inquire whether there are any MMPers anywhere near there. Also, allot time for meeting up with any MMPers who speak up. They were referring us when they said “don’t be a stranger.” Right? Right?
I hereby declare a moratorium on MMPer bad news. (This is supposed to be Spats’s job!!!)
Here are more hugs, SCL. And I third the “no such thing as crying pretty” comments.
So glad to here Mr. Lissar wasn’t hurt, LiLi! I’d be shaking too. Here, have some more gelato.
Glad the lightning didn’t result in major damage, Bobbio. And sorry the VunderKid is gone again; sure seems like it was a short visit.
Hey, FCM, have you looked at your post count recently? Just passed another impressive milestone. Probably more meaningful than your award, I’m afraid.
Glad you stopped by meli. Sorry about your grandfather, though. Tell Ali we say hi…
The drama du jour chez GT is that I have no gas. Went to make dinner and the burner went out quickly. The range is less than a year old, so I tried the other burners. Nothing. Oven: nothing. I still had some hot water, but didn’t really want to use it if that was all I had, so I thought I’d throw something in the dryer. Wouldn’t even turn on.
I checked my gas bill to make sure there hadn’t been some freak accounting accident I’d missed. It’s auto-paid, so it’s not like I can forget. Last payment went through a couple weeks ago, next payment is scheduled for a couple weeks from now. Checked all the circuit breakers.
Walked around the perimeter of the house sniffing for gas. Nothing. Went to the curb (my gas comes from some magical location near there). Nothing.
Decided to call the gas company because I was picturing a gas line broken somewhere that no one had reported. Nice gas guy arrived a few minutes ago and found that, indeed, my appliances have not all gone on strike simultaneously. He’s made sure that my gas line isn’t damage and is in the process of turning stuff back on. He seems to be having trouble finding where to turn it on near the street; he’s measuring stuff all over the place. But at least I won’t have to pay for the visit, because it’s not a problem with my appliances.
I’ve also resolved the mystery of my reluctant-to-close garage door. When Local Best Friend’s dad was here, he did some clean-up in my garage (did I mention he removed 3 dead branches from my crab apples, too? He rocks.). He propped some thin wood stakes just in the way of the electric eye. Didn’t bother the door the first time it closed, but I could only get it to close up to about four inches above the ground last night. Did some sweeping and finally noticed that the stakes might be in the way. I moved them and - voilá! - garage door closed just fine.
Guess I should be reading. Book group is coming up in a couple days and I’m only 1/2 done.
Back after a while with important gas line updates.
