Standard rule of Wikipedia: Do NOT trust articles about linguistics, languages, linguistic history, and so on because they will be crawling with loony nationalist morons, and the sane people won’t even notice them. “It must be noted that Lebanese Arabic is structurally much more similar to nice civilized languages and hardly at all like the dirty, smelly language those camel-fuckers from the Gulf speak.”
That sounds much saner then the article I read. 
Honestly, I’ll just have to take your word for it. The article reads very straight forward and matter of fact to my untrained eye (ear?). I personally wouldn’t give it a second thought.
