Trolls R Us redux [Now the argument clinic]

Not quite correct. He was not tossed because he “sides on the right” He was tossed for being a trolling asshole.

The majority of alternative fact spreaders here are right leaning.

He wasn’t tossed at all.

He got called on his bullshit and decided to take his ball and go home.

Cowardly.

Both of these assertions can be true. I’m a lefty shit stirrer because I believe the country desperately needs a good shaking up. Comfort with injustice is not conducive with a just society.

But I believe we also have facts and science on our side.

Drunk uncles are “hilarious” when they are making fun of someone else. They aren’t so funny when you’re a minority listening to them spew racist jokes. I got a laugh out of Slacker’s constant attempts to convince us he was smart. I didn’t laugh at his racism and misogyny, and I’m happy to have that gone. Minorities and women shouldn’t have to tolerate that just so I can get a cheap laugh.

No more of Scylla’s blimp tales, because he sides on the right.

A trolling asshole and a deeply creepy misogynist.

You’d think if getting a rise out of people was forbidden the pit wouldn’t exist. So it’s not about getting a rise out of people. It’s if the wrong folks are upset.

By “wrong people” do you mean “normal, well adjusted reasonable people who care about their fellow man”?

Trolling was forbidden, when the Pit was first created. We couldn’t even accuse anyone of trolling, lest moderator Lynn come down on us. Rules were loosened when she stepped down and @Giraffe stepped in, followed by @Miller, who continued the trend. Trolling, up to a point, has been allowed for quite a while but it is possible to troll too much down here and get banned.

Howling mob is not what I consider well adjusted. It’s becoming the norm, however.

Whining loner ain’t well adjusted either … just sayin’.

The norm for what?

Did I say that trolling was forbidden in the Pit? If it were, a lot more Dopers would be banned.

I just pointed out that this thread is about identifying trolls. So, if you want us to believe you’re not a troll, it might not be smart to bring up your political fixations that most people think are just you trolling the libs.

You used to actually discuss things, rather than just tell all of us how horrible we are. You don’t have to be conservative for that to make it where no one likes you. See also me, especially early on.

You may be able to troll in the Pit, but, the second you do something questionably troll-y outside the Pit, it’s going to come back to bite you. Pissing off the people in charge as much as you deliberately do is not a smart move.

I think that there are some posters who just don’t think that misogyny, racism and other forms of bigotry are that big of a deal and so they are baffled that people are punished for it.

I can give you several of their names. The fact that they are completely unapologetic about it tells all you need to know.

Likewise, the idea that “don’t be a jerk” is a rule is really stressful for some posters because they feel like it’s an unreasonable request and that they could be modded at any moment.

I think that it comes down to the fact that bigots think everyone else is bigoted too, and the only reason they don’t say so is because they are virtue signaling, or bowing to peer pressure.

Or because “the howling mob” will descend on them if they dare to speak the bigoted truth.

The howling mob howls when purity tests aren’t parroted fervently enough.

Have you know idea how ludicrous it sounds to state that expressing political ideas is trolling the libs? Why isn’t the reverse true? Why are the precious feelings of the so-called libs privileged?

Oh neat, I think this is the first time I’ve seen a conservative directly state that bigotry is a conservative political stance.
