TronnaDope: let's meet in Toronto!

I think it got sideswiped by the holidays. Let’s start it up again.

:: rereads thread ::

How about a Sunday lunch? Would Sunday Feb. 22nd be too soon? Any suggestions for restaurants? If it comes down to it, I have the Urbanspoon program on my phone, and we could pick one at random…

Oooh, you’re too efficient for me - I’ll be in Winnipeg from the 19th until the 8th of March.

How about the 15th of either month? Too soon or too late?

I work Saturdays and Sundays now. :frowning: And have roller derby practice after work on Saturdays. Weekends are out for me.

We’re completely unavailable until you’re rid of that thing you call Winter. I’ve softened, living down here.

Does anyone have any restaurants in mind for a breakfast/brunch?

I’m in the mood for trying something new.

Winter? You call this winter? Why, when I was a kid…

Downstairs, Simon and Chris are replacing the last two old windows left in the house. The furnace has been off since 9, and I still haven’t noticed the difference.

Oh yeah…it’s frigid outside right now.

Now where are those shorts?

Actually, there’s a decent little (like, ten tables) place near me* called French Toast that serves decent breakfast food. It’s also quite reasonable.

There are also Cora’s scattered around town that have an extensive breakfast menu, but in truth I’ve found them kind of hit-or-miss in quality.

  • I now live near Dundas West Station. The little place I’m talking about is a two minute walk from the station.

That sounds good.

I’ve never been to a Cora’s. I always see them in industrial areas; I got the impression that they cater to the going-to-work crowd.

I can practically see you from my place! (Well, if the river and High Park and Swansea weren’t in the way…)

There’s a Cora’s at Wellington and Peter/Blue Jay’s Way that’s in a pretty non-industrial area.

I suppose I can handle a trek all the way out to the west end … I braved a snowstorm to make it out to my first Dopefest last year, after all.

Hmmm…I’ve always heard about this mysterious 3rd Dundas station*. Seems like a good time to check it out.

*Now that I think about, I never travel west of Bathurst for anything, it’s my psychogeographicboundary.

Well, how be we meet on the 15th (this coming Sunday) for the brunching weekend crowd, and on a weeknight to be named later for Daerlyn?

Interesting. My psychogeographic boundaries tend to be defined partly by transit access, or lack thereof. For instance, the Pacific Mall is a foreign land to me, because it’s so far via bus from me in Stonegate. I did go out that way for a wedding last summer, and it felt like more of a journey than taking the train to Whitby. On the other hand, transit access isn’t everything. Most of Mississauga is “local” to me, but Rexdale isn’t.

I’ve done my cold time, as Amanda Marshall says. 20+ Prairie Winters and 8 Northwest Territories. Although I’m a Southern softie now, I’m still the one in sandals in November and shorts in March. Pussies here, I tell ya.

The 15th should be fine for me. Weeknights are hit and miss, since it all depends on which office I’m working from on that day. It tends to be unpredictable, so no point trying to plan around me… I’ll just do my best to show up.

Okay, I’m good for Sunday the 15th. We get Monday off for family day, so meeting the local doper family can be the highlight of a three-day weekend!

The 15th it is then, at French Toast near Dundas West subway! 1 PM for a brunch?

People…
Mahna Mahna maybe,
chrisk,
Sunspace,
Cerowyn since the location was his idea,
Kid_a,
Le Ministre de l’au-delà

That sounds good. Count me in.

I should be awake by then.

I hope.
