Confirmed, I am!
Yeah, hope you have a great time, all, but I’m not coming out this time, I think. Not for Korean.
I can’t make it on Thursday. Totally forgot that I had an appointment at 7:00.
Have a great time!
Confirm!
I’m in! Woooo!
(it was a close call, too… I’d totally forgotten about another commitment I’d made for Thursday, but that’s been cancelled as of this morning for totally unrelated reasons)
I’ve PM’d the two people from this thread that I missed adding to my list. I blame general simple-mindedness on my part for that.
Damn, I can’t go! I knew this would happen.
I have a physio appointment and I really can’t mess around with it, because I’ve postponed it a bunch of times already. It’s the only one in the evening I could get in a reasonable time frame.
So take a lot of picutres so I can see if you look like my mental images of you all (the Sideshow Bob hair, the crooked teeth, you know.)
If it works out like last week, I’ll be the one taking the pictures. You’ll be spared my Sideshow Bob hair and crooked teeth.
S’OK… I can do the Sideshow Bob hair, at the very least. I normally confine it in a bun so as not to scare people, but I’m willing to let it roam free for the sake of a fellow Doper’s amusement.
So far we have four plus a friend of mine. Not exactly the largest get-together we’ve ever had, but hey, it’s Korean barbecue.
I’ll watch this thread until about 5ish when I’ll make the reservation. And, of course, we can always add a seat at the last minute if someone decides to come unannounced!
See you all there.
Just tuning in (thanks for the heads upCerowyn). Unfortunately, my partner and I have a prior engagement around suppertime and I won’t be able to attend cry. It would have een fun to see everyone again and the new folks too. Maybe if we have another barbecue on the island this summer I can go.
Have an awesome time everyone!
So what name is the reservation under?
Dang, I’m going to have to bow out. Last minute resurrection of the previous commitment, unfortunately.
Have fun, guys. Hope no one ends up in a meat coma.
The reservation is under Adams.
Hope you guys are having a great time. I thought I’d take this opportunity to post my pic of last one, including the fabulous Sunspace
I took one other snap, but that time Mahna Mahna seems to have had her eyes closed, so I’ll spare her the sharing of it.
By the way, I have a terrible memory for matching faces and names, so if any of the rest of you who were there would like to point out who you are in either pic for future reference, I’d appreciate it.
In Subspace’s pic from post 57, I’m over on the very left, in the dark red shirt. [sub]looking like a blob [/sub]
We wish everyone else could have been there.
“Meat coma”. Yeah, that about describes it.

I don’t think I’ve had as many different kinds of meat at the same time in my life. Definitely not a place for vegetarians. I’ve decided I don’t hate liver, but it requires partaking in small amounts with gravy.
In the middle of the meal, I started craving carrots. Big, juicy, orange, crunchy carrots…
I got there a little early, and followed this other guy up the stairs out of the subway and along Queen Street until we got to the restaurant, where he turned around and turned out to be Cerowyn. I can’t even blame face blindness for that one–all I saw was his back.
We waited a little, then went in. The restaurant is a grill house. Circular gas-fired grills are built into each table. You get little trays of raw meat which you cook to taste, throwing the pieces of meat on the grill with efficient little tongs. There’s some kind of ventilation system which draws the air from the grill down around the outside of the grill opening; the air of the restaurant was quite fresh and not smoky or barbecuey at all.
The others arrived, and we ordered and ate. Soon the table was crowded with little dishes of meat and vegetables. I was looking for kimchi; either it wasn’t included in the all-you-can-cook special, or I didn’t recognize it.
It was a good meal. Lots of good talk, including wild stories of Japan, which make me want to go there even more. I may have to learn how to drink…
I took a couple of pictures, but they really did not turn out well. I think I may need a remedial photography course, or at least to bring my smaller camera.
Sorry I missed it…I was there in pseudo-food spirit however. I ended up having pho in Leaside for dinner; that’s sort of like Korean BBQ, right?
No…I guess not.
At least you were spared my friend and me drinking two pitchers of beer, along with Daerlyn’s and Sunspace’s immense patience in dealing with our drunken ranting. Of course, we also had a no-show from one of my friends, despite his assurance not an hour and a half earlier that he’d be there.
We’ll definitely have to do another get-together with better notice. It would be great to see Eats again, especially since it’s been a few years since she’d joined us. I really like her idea of a Islands’ barbecue, like we’ve done in the past.
And if we plan an Islands barbecue, maybe that will cause spring to come!
