It was a terrific episode. It set the table for the season . There obviously will be a witch /vampire conflict. It accomplished a lot in a short time.
So, what exactly was it that happened to Eric? He wasn’t resurrected, as he vampired outta the coven, but when Sookie met him in the road, he certainly seemed a little more rosy-cheeked and less darkly handsome than usual (what a change of hairstyle can accomplish…).
Bill said that Necromancers could control Vampires, so presumably Eric was under some sort of vampire mind-control juju.
Then can bring people back from the dead can’t they? If that’s the case, do they turn vampires back into ‘regular people’? Is Eric suddenly a 30 something year old guy with no memory of the last 1000 years of his life?
Of course, I would assume if that’s the case they would have done it on someone else to show us how this works first. I can’t imagine them suddenly writing Eric off the show for all intents and purposes.
The witches put a powerful spell on him and he lost his memory. Sookie is going to take the de-fanged Eric home and care for him till the situation is resolved…This is in one of the books. The other parts of the story are made up for TV. I did find punk-rocker Bill in England in 1982 and his being approached by Nan Flannigan early in the vampires efforts at mainstreaming into human society rather amusing. I know he’s now the King of Louisiana, and just a puppet king at that, but I thought it was pretty offhand his being moved up in the hierarchy with just a few words from Nan, i.e., “I appoint you king”.
Question about Andy: When did he get hooked on V? Was it during the unshown year of Sookie’s absence, or was there any kind of build up previously? 'cause I can’t remember any of the latter; that doesn’t mean much, as I haven’t watched it for a while, so…that’s why I’m asking
I don’t remember the specifics, but it’s been a long time coming. He’s always had a taste for it. The V addiction is just replacing his alcoholism. I remember in earlier seasons there were vials of it missing from his desk…or in his desk when they shouldn’t have been.
In this thread I asked the question “Andy had vials of V in his desk drawer. Wiki said they were his. I figured they came from Hot Shots guy that Jason tied to the tree. Have we seen Andy with V before?”
IIRC, just before that we had seen him try it for the first time. After that he started drinking heavily (and possibly dabbling in V). I don’t remember the specifics, but I believe they were setting him up to have a problem with it at some point. Jason went through it as well.
Ah, ok, thanks I miss, or forget, so many details. >.<
So, Jason is going to be a werepanther? Seriously?
If Eric lost his memory, how come he still speaks English?
People with amnesia don’t generally loose language skills, even second or third languages.
Granted, I’m not sure how much research there’s been as to if that result holds true for vampires under the effects of necromancer caused amnesia.
What face was the head witches fading in and out of during the incantation?
Was it someone Eric knew?
What happened right at the end? I was watching at a friend’s house, and his computer went hinky. Sookie found Eric, he started sniffing the air (because he could smell her delicious sunshine blood), and then…click.
He didn’t recognize her. He wasn’t “Eric” anymore, something happened/changed, he was sort of an empty shell of his former self.
Yeah, I got that much. But did I miss anything happening that was cut off? I’m not looking for explanation, I’m looking for exposition.
Well, the not recognizing her (this wasn’t implied, he actually said he didn’t know who she was) was pretty important. I was under the impression you missed that part.
Gotcha - so it cut to credits right after that? Thanks.
IIRC.
ETA, I’m pretty sure it did because I was half expecting Sookie to offer him a ride home, but I never found out if she did or not.
That’s exactly what I thought she’d do as well, simply because it would be the single most idiotic thing for her to do. And that seems to be the Sookie Rule.
I’m trying to figure out what it was Sookie saw when she turned around and first saw Tara coming up behind her; don’t tell me Tara’s a witch, too? I mean, Sookie can’t just ‘see’ who’s a witch, or she’d have been seeing them all over by now. But WTF was that about?
