You’re right. That was the episode I was actually thinking of, but I’m not such a fan that I keep track of the correct references. 
Yeah, I couldn’t quite figure out why he was being evasive on oxygen since by the end he had said “no oxygen Thursday, or today, and none while he was here on Friday”. I read that as him having supplemental oxygen during transport, which would make sense and not necessarily be a bad sign.
I totally get not totally believing everything coming out, but I don’t really see why we should assume he’s on death’s door. Clearly if that were the case they would turn the keys over to Pence temporarily.
I honestly hope he’s fine. And I hope he comes away with some new understanding of the steps that need to be taken to keep himself and his country safe. Because he will be the President until at least January (unless he dies, of course) and we’re gonna need leadership to get through the winter without another 200,000 dead.
Nothing can be believed from anyone connected to Trump. Yep, doctors too. Everything Trump touches turns in to shit and a lie. This is IMHO one of the biggest problems with this entire administration. There is no reason to believe anything they say. They are a bunch of self serving liars that don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves. And It appears to be backfiring on them.
A 74 year old obese man that never exercises has come down with a respiratory illness is not on a supplemental oxygen cannula? I’ve got great oxygen saturation, but the few times I have been in the hospital, that’s one of the first things they hook up.
I sincerely hope that Trump recovers from this. But on the question of the political consequences if he doesn’t, my prediction is that it will be fucking anarchy. People will panic about COVID in a way that they haven’t so far. Proud Boys and QAnon conspiracist will raise him up as a martyr and will feel justified in taking any action necessary to fight back against the “deep state” that they will blame for his death. Republicans will refuse to recognize as legitimate any election result that would make Biden president. Republican state legislatures will send their own slate of electors regardless of the vote, or refuse to send electors at all.

I would have settled for some other solutions. For instance, we could have the checks and balances that we put in place so presidents get impeached and convicted rather than given passes by their cronies and lap dogs. Or maybe we could inhabit a world where the media expose wholesale liars and the courts punish them. Hell, I might even settle for a fairytale land where virtually everyone values the top doctor’s medical opinion more than the president’s, because after all POTUS stared at an eclipse, had people drinking Clorox, etc.
But if a cartoon COVID anvil falls out of the sky on someone I guess at least there’s some justice, like the universe reclaiming its own. I’ll get what I’ll get and I’ll like it.

As far as the joke goes, as a lawyer instead of a judge, RBG is presenting the case—not deciding it. The judge is presumably infinitely wise and agrees with her, which wouldn’t happen if RBG were merely pursuing a selfish vendetta. RBG also would propose, not decide, the punishment. YMMV.

Probably another 250,000 by spring. Depending on what you define winter as. Northern states are completely screwed. We are at the point where dining outside is a no go in a lot of places. It’s a no go where I live.
We did do good at first locally by closing down streets so that restaurants could move tables into the middle of the street. But that just stopped since few people want to dine outside in the cold.
It sucks of course, many businesses will not be able to recover. Many, many more people will be dead and many, many, many more out of work.
I don’t envy Biden. “Here’s your sinking ship”. But that’s the republican way.

Maybe trump told them to take him off oxygen before the doctor made the statement. So he wouldn’t look weak. “If Sleepy Joe were here, he’d have to be on oxygen!”
The doc saying trump wasn’t on oxygen before that… maybe he had his fingers crossed behind his back because he meant trump wasn’t on 02 “continuously.”

So, Trump’s doctor announced he was diagnosed 72 hours ago.
The announcement, 1am Friday, was 36 hours ago.
This implies, no, states, that Trump and his team knew Wednesday that he was infected. And since then:
- They made the decision to fake it through.
- Therefore, they did not tell Biden
- Nor the staff or other workers
- Trump met with Sr Republicans and donors for the next day and a half.
- It was only on the double whammy of Bloomberg reporting about Hope Hick and Trump’s rapidly worsening condition, that the WH decided to announce the news.
Fuck these guys, Joe. Put the negative ads back on. They and their supporters can go burn in hell.
I agree this is sound reasoning, but remember that the President is different from everyone else who has died from COVID.
He’ll have infinite free healthcare, he’ll get every experimental medicine that his doctor agrees is safe, he’s probably drinking the blood of infant COVID survivors. All for the low low price of just $750 in income tax.
The only thing he’ll have trouble getting is thoughts and prayers.
