Trump is said to be meeting right now with Ted Cruz and Reince Preibus.

No way in hell. Cruz has too much pride to play second fiddle to a guy that accused his dad of being in on the JFK assassination and who tweets unflattering pictures of his wife.

Seriously, it probably has something to do with the fact that so many of the delegates to the convention who are supposed to be voting for Trump are unabashed Cruz supporters, and how that’s going to play out in Cleveland.
This sounds like a great way to piss off both the Trump supporters and the Cruz supporters at the same time.
Cruz/Trump would be a smart move, but Trump is incapable of deferring to someone else.
Probably discussing what it’ll take to get Cruz’s endorsement. A team up seems extremely unlikely.
It would have to be Trump/Cruz, Trump is not going to agree to be second banana when he was the clear victor int the primary. I assume that this meeting’s goal is to try to convince Cruz to not try any shenanigans at the convention. They will probably buy him off with something, but not the Vice presidency. Trump wouldn’t want someone that unwilling to take orders, and Cruz is smart enough to realize that holding on to Trumps arm while he goes down in flames is unlikely to help Cruz’s political career.
Wow. They’d have the Repugnant vote locked up.
Word on the Internets is that Trump is considering (WARNING: INCOMING STRAIGHT LINE) tapping a family member.

Most Republicans are running from the invite to be his VP. Cruz isn’t bright enough to run, he’ll probably fall for it.
I wouldn’t have thought Ivanka Trump was old enough, but according to Wikipedia, her 35th birthday is just a week before the election.

The meeting was to get Cruz to agree to speak at the convention. I imagine it’ll be similar to Christie’s speech in 2012 and Cruz will mainly talk about how great Ted Cruz is.
Wow, if (G-d forbid) Trump won, which of the cabinet positions would Cruz want to destroy? We’ve got Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, Veterans Affairs, and Attorney General… I suppose he could fuck over the most poor people as head of Health and Human Services, but State’s a big plum. A promise of any of them would allow him to keep a low profile until the election is over.
Trump would do it, it’s up to Cruz. He probably thinks Trump will fail miserably leaving him in a good position for 2020.
Cruz would solidify the base for Trump, and also Hillary. It just adds to the contention, won’t make anyone switch sides.
Cruz has no friends and few allies left in the Senate, so this may be the only road that doesn’t go straight to Palookaville for him. Same for Christie and New Jerseyites. Either one would suck it up, like GHWB sucking up “voodoo economics”, and take it.

It was reported that Cruz drove off in a black van with tinted windows, sort of like a mob boss.
Cruz’s strength comes from the Tea Party ground troops and organizers. He didn’t get any of his current fame or status by having friends in the Senate.
