That’s a semantic quibble, really. Boston could be on year-round Easter Daylight Time, or redraw the boundary and put it on Atlantic Standard Time; it would amount to the same thing.
- I love Diet Coke and I don’t drink alcohol.
- I think it’s good that Europe have been pressured to contribute more financially to their own defense.
- YMCA is a good song.
- I like watching MMA.
That’s about it.
A surprisingly progressive thing that trump 45 did (that trump 47 probably disagrees with) is pass a prison reform act called First Step. I think Ivanka talked him into it.
Thank you.
Why would people think it makes any godly difference? Kids go to school in the dark? Start school at 9am instead of 8am. Fixed. Less crime?
Are there actually people who think that DST allots more time with sunlight? Lets hope they are all burglars and muggers by profession. “Damn, we have an hour less to get work done.”
There used to be exactly one good thing about living in Indiana, which is that we were on EST all the time. Well, about 95% of the state was, which was enough. There were some outliers, who were either on Central Time all the time, or practiced DST; plus some cuckoos who were on the Indiana side of the border, but were for all practical purposes, suburbs of Chicago, and did both.
Then came Gov. Mitch Daniels, who claimed he want to modernize Indiana, and decided we needed to be on DST, and got rid of the one good thing about (95% of) Indiana.
Awkwardly, he wanted to be known as the “Health & Fitness” governor, who tried to make passing fitness tests mandatory for passing grades in public schools, ushing Indiana into the fitness craze of the 1980s, when he took office…in 2005.
Apparently, he also made heart attacks happen to 61,488 more citizens, and weight problems to adults in 1 of 50 medical cases --that means 1 of 50 cases that have implications in another medical condition of a patient-- from causing or complicating diabetes and heart disease, to causing lower joint problems, which are painful, and make exercise extremely difficult (the latter of which itself contributes to weight problems, forming a vicious circle).
I haven’t seen any DNA.
The only two things that occur to me…
- YMCA is catchy fun silly pop tune that reminds of fun times in my youth (for me student nights in Manchester where I went to uni). Its popularity in mainstream straight culture probably contributed the acceptance of LGBT rights generally (though I suspect Trump and I differ on that part
) - The US should be giving the new Syrian regime the benefit of the doubt and treat it as the legitimate government of Syria (though as I said at the time, rather than making me think Trump is right, Trump’s support for the new regime makes me think it’s actually far worse than is publicly known. Its pretty much a universal truth that every leader complemented by trump is a vile autocrat)
Generally it’s hard to agree with Trump’s political principles as he doesn’t have any beyond a very strongly held belief that Donald J Trump should be very rich, powerful and universally respected and an intense hatred for women and black people.
Quick question: What time is noon?
Another good move by Trump was to loosen restrictions on using psychedelics for therapy. Some psychedelics have been known to, in the right therapeutic setting, achieve huge breakthrough for patients.
I’m not sure how much of it actually has Trump’s involvement, but I wholly support the Maverick Act.
I have always hated that song. A lot.
But I’m fine with no more Pennys
Fair point, also, great name/post match.
Still, people who think it affects the amount of daylight they “get” are part of the problem, in a way bigger way than simple “We’ve always done it that way” types, of CEOs who think it brings in more business.
It wouldn’t be worth my time to go to Don Jr.'s wedding. On this we can both agree.
The first step is figuring out which one everybody actually wants, seeing as at least half the country seems to think “Daylight Savings Time” is what we switch to in November.
As far as I remember, the ONLY thing he got right in either term was Operation Warp Speed. Of course, that was partly negated by his pooh-poohing of the serious of the pandemic in early days and putting a whack job at the head of HHS.
I disagree with the notion that NATO allies were moochers as they responded admirably the only time Article 5 was invoked at the request of the US.
I also disagree with the Jerusalem embassy, I think that was needlessly provocative.
Agreed. In fact I get the impression me and DJT share a lot of opinions on Donald Jnr.
No, of course not. Why would I? He’s an elected president, not a monarch.
You’re not wrong, but as a counterpoint, may I suggest this:
Fuck the Queen.
I’ve long felt Iran has needed to be smacked around; their funding of terrorism and insurgencies, and other not-quite-overt hostilities wasn’t something the US or the West should have tolerated past 1979.
But here’s the thing- you follow the rules and the script if you’re going to do that. Not just unilaterally start bombing the shit out of them unprovoked.
And I agree that we (the US) should have leaned in on Europe to fulfill their treaty guidelines of 2% of GDP to defense. But again, the way we go about it isn’t to bluster and threaten and get cozy with our antagonists.
I also agree that it’s long been in vogue to internally bash the US for not doing things like the rest of the world, whether or not it’s warranted. And for the things we’ve done that are bad historically and currently. I don’t think the presence of those things should preclude a sense of pride and accomiplishment for the good things we’ve done. The idea that America is and should be great isn’t a bad one. As usual, the execution is awful and shoddy. It shouldn’t be an either-or type situation; we can be great, and have things we need to atone for and that we need to do better. But of course, they take it like admitting that we did/do wrong in some areas is implying that we’re not great, and go about trying to suppress all that stuff.
I find his daughter Ivanka attractive and want to have sex with her. However I care about consent.
The first step act was good
The Abraham accords were good
The assassination of Qasem Soleimani was nice.
Operation warp speed
Remember that the Queen was the Head of State of the UK (as opposed to the Head of Government which is the PM). There’s a reason that diplomatic niceties are usually observed, particularly amongst allies.
And if Trump didn’t want Iran to have nukes, he shouldn’t have torn up the agreement Obama signed. What is happening now is directly due to his own actions.
And I don’t want to have sex with Ivanka, nor do I like well-done steak.
But I do like McDonalds cheeseburgers. And Operation Warp Speed, while implemented late, was a good thing when it happened. And Mike Pompeo negotiated the repatriation of US soldiers’ remains from North Korea, which was also good.
1st term, aliens who committed crimes and served their sentence get deported to their home country. Some countries were refusing to take them back. Trump said no visas for anyone from that country, student/ diplomatic/ tourist until that country does take them. Backed it up instead of TACOing.
The first two Reich’s were times when Germany was great. It’s actually a propaganda ploy to cultivate ignorance and division.
