That is good. Tell him since he is ‘America’s favourite president’ he can replace Lincoln on the penny. It would be fun to watch him reinstate the penny to circulation.
It’ll be a penny with some Real Gold® ™, as in one molecule of gold per ton of pennies. Which trump will loudly insist are actually made of solid pure gold. And half the country will believe him. And pay him personally hundreds of dollars for each penny coming from the trump-owned mint.
I actually think that his covid decisions were driven by his personal businesses, which are largely aimed at vacationers: hotels, golf courses, resorts. So on the one hand, he didn’t want people to take it seriously, and forego vacations. On the other hand, he was motivated to minimize the actual risk, to the extent he could do so without encouraging people to worry about it. Vaccines play nicely to that. Masks don’t, because they are visible and scary. And if i had to guess, he personally disliked masks, as many Americans do.
You don’t have to guess: he hated masks, entirely because he didn’t like how he looked in a mask, and he refused to be photographed in public wearing one.
Yep, one of many occasions in which the MAGA crowd took one of trump’s many personal peccadilloes and turned it into culture-war gospel.
I remember, going back to early in his first term-- trump expressed a preference for having his steak cooked well-done, and for a period of time after that, anyone who preferred their steak medium-rare was a woke-ass pansy, as far as the rabid trumpers were concerned.
Had the right/MAGA been under the belief that masks prevented them from getting covid (instead of preventing other people from getting it from them), they would’ve been hoarding them. Instead of acting like they’ll pass out if they so much as put one over their mouth, not even their nose, they would’ve wearing multiple masks at the same time (and showing off because it meant less masks for other people).
I think if there was a way to convincingly lie about what the masks do, we could’ve flattened the curve a lot faster.
Moderna and Pfizer did not want to roll the dice on spending the money for production before the vaccines were approved. el donald could have promised to have the government cover their costs if they were rejected. When the approval came, the trucks could have been ready to roll and everyone could have their first shots by Christmas.
If that happened, it would take place before the election but, it didn’t. As it actually played out, when el donald lost the election, nothing else mattered to him. He totally freaked out. Rudy filed his sixty frivoulous lawsuits. The last desperate attempt was on January 6. Vaccine, what Vaccine?
