Bless your heart.
Do you really want to go in this direction? Think about it.

With everything that followed that sentence they already have.
Someone shows up out of nowhere in a Pit thread to preach Jesus then disparage Jews, and you’re engaging with them?
[Moderating]
This is a formal warning for anti-Semitic hate speech.
[/Moderating]
And here we have the root of all anti-semitism, so rarely seen in the wild.
Never mind.
He seems nice.
Why do I smell corn?
Friendly. Wow.
Bye, now.
I never understood why anyone is mad at the Jewish people for killing Christ.
- They didn’t do it, the Romans did
- He came here to die. That was the entire point. No sacrifice, no redemption. Toppling over from old age wasn’t going to cut it.
It’s too late for denial.

I know this is the Pit, but didn’t we already have another thread spin off of this one to keep it from devolving into a discussion that has nothing to do with Trump or his dying?
And you guys are still continuing that discussion? All because of a now-banned troll?
How fucking dumb are you people?!
Acta non verba – Deeds, not words (complying with board rules).
According to the biblical account, the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, offered to commute the death sentence of one prisoner and left it to the assembled crowd to decide if it would be Jesus or a criminal named Barabbas. The crowd of Jews chose Barabbas, then demanded that Jesus be crucified.
That’s why some people blame the Jews.
The reason Christians don’t blame the Romans is that they ARE the Romans. I mean, after the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, they were hardly going to blame themselves for killing Christ, right?
It depends on which book you read. Some gospels are more antisemitic than others and do more or less to shift the blame off the Romans and to the Jews.
It’s not a coherent story. It’s mostly just some shit people made up to suit their needs.
And even before that, they were trying to get along with the Romans. They couldn’t very well blame the power they were sucking up to. They had to blame someone else.
I took a college course on the history of the early Christians, and one thing i was surprised to learn is that a lot of the “blood libel” that has been aimed at Jews was originally aimed at Christians, by the Romans. “This is my body you are eating and my blood that you are drinking” is actually pretty easy to misinterpret. A lot of contemporary non-Christians thought the early Christians were literally eating human flesh and drinking human blood. And they told bizarre stories about how the Christians obtained those grisly meals. They stole Roman babies and encased them in a ball of dough and then threw the dough around their church until the baby died, and then cooked and ate it. Stuff like that. (They also thought the early Christians engaged in incest because they called each other “brother” and “sister”.)
When the Christians came to power, they took all those stories told about them and rewrote them to be about the Jews.

Holy crap, people! Somebody wake me when this thread gets back on topic.
A thread’s got to die before it can rise again.
