Notice that the MAGA crowd ignores it when he expresses hate for people they love (ie, Dolly Parton)?
Their idolization of Trump is simply because he expresses hate. Prior to Trump, it was becoming increasingly more difficult to express hate towards anybody, particularly if it was hate for a group of people as opposed to a single human. Trump changed that.
So, as long as Trump is expressing hate and not getting called on it, they are happy. They don’t complain when they disagree with him because they want to be able exercise their hatred without limits.
Based on what I’m seeing on Twitter, Trump cultists are getting a lot of satisfaction and giggles from Trump’s attack on Reiner.
True, a few far-right figures are sensing a backlash. Simon Goddek, a conspiracy theorist and anti-Semite who has 1.1 million Twitter followers, gloated today about Reiner getting karma, but later issued this “apology”.
I’m surprised by the outrage, and expected a defense along the lines of, “Despite all of the hatred from Reiner, Trump was generous in saying that he and his wife should rest in peace, the Godly wonderful man that he is.”
What I’m seeing a lot on FB is “what about all the Democrats who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s death?” What I recall was recreational outrage from the right against anyone who didn’t declare that Kirk was the saintliest saint who ever sainted.
I honestly don’t understand what their problem is with Trump’s statement about Reiner. Is it vile? Yes, but it’s completely within Donald’s character to say something like that. I would have to think real hard to even figure out if it’s in the top 10 of vile things he’s said over they years.
Yes, this. And it was considered a horrible, HORRIBLE thing if you quoted the actual words that Charlie Kirk said. This was considered to be “celebrating his death”. By simply repeating what he actually said.
Yeah. Your cite says a MAGA influencer referred to Dolly as a “Creepy Creature” and was vilified. Trump said it and we got a [ho-hum]. Kinda proves my point. It is OK for Trump to not like hate Dolly even if they love her. What is important is that if Trump can say nasty things about Dolly, it’s OK for them to say nasty things about anybody.
Being “a smart thing to do” is not a requirement for Trump.
Let me know if they keep backlash up for more than a week. I doubt he’ll feel any heat from it after tomorrow, once all the MAGAs have decided that Trump was right after all.
Maybe I’m wrong. Hopefully, this will be that straw, but I suspect many more people will end up dying before that camel’s back goes out.
Just out of curiosity…has anybody on FOX expressed any outrage? You know, somebody that Trump might be watching? Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld, Sean Hannity?
Not Gutfeld, evidently.
“I think the thing is, you don’t have to like the things that he says all the time. It is why, in my filter, Trump is always ‘words’ versus ‘deeds.’ I don’t have to like what he says. In fact, I can hate what he says. But I can also think in his brain, he is going, ‘This guy compared me to Hitler. He put a target on my back. I don’t like him,’” Gutfeld, 61, hypothesized.
