When Trump takes a shit Okrahoma sees that as a brilliant bowel move that will benefit Trump.
I’ll admit that “large” is maybe too vague of a term to pin down, but otherwise I have to disagree with your statement. I have seen plenty of comments, here and elsewhere, that indicate more people become permanently disgusted with Mr. Trump. There’s an incremental effect, and it seems logical that if one becomes fed up with boorish, oafish behavior by our so-called President, ever more boorish behavior seems unlikely to cause many people to reverse their negative opinions.
All I’ve got is “gang him, bang him, then hang him high”.
The damn anthem shouldn’t even be played at professional sports events for crissake. Sit, stand, kneel, whatever.
Not to worry. If they tried, they’d find your throat obstructed.
There’s no possible way that this thing will benefit Trump, because the only thing Trump cares about is getting people to praise him, and this asininity is reducing the the amount of praise he’s getting.
It’s cute how some silly people think that Trump makes political moves. He doesn’t, because he’s not a politician. It’s patently obvious that whenever anybody credits his stream of conscious fecal mouth dribble with brilliant Machiavellian motives, that person is simply engaged in delusions of the lowest order.
Amazing how this non-politician who never made political moves managed to beat 16 Republicans, most of them very seasoned politicians, in a primary and one very seasoned Democratic politician in the general election to become President. Pure luck, eh?
Who knew so many assholes live in the US?
One thing to consider is how he would have done against only one or two Republicans in the primaries?
Don’t forget that in some of his primary “victories” , he only got a plurality, not a majority.
For all that you brag he got 13 million votes “for”, there were 17 million for someone else.
No it isn’t.
In fact it’s exactly what the kneeling is supposed to be.
Somehow I think this will be another post that you ignore though…
Not necessarily true. You can be in full compliance and not be suspected of anything, and STILL get shot.
and supposedly, ratings are going UP.
That may be a comforting delusion, but it’s a delusion nonetheless.
The Trumpist minority is trying to push the idea that
‘PEACEFUL PROTEST IS UNPATRIOTIC’
…and failing. Americans know better.
That’s it! This is all a ploy to drive up ratings for Monday Night Football!
[/sarcasm]
No. Calling it a protest of the flag or a protest of the national anthem, now THAT’s disingenuous.
It’s far worse when it’s the President. If it was our drunk senile uncle, it would be one thing. But it’s the PRESIDENT and his so called PRESS CORP. That means like it or not, intentional or not, he represents GOVERNMENT when he said his stupid shit. And this from a a guy who has managed to disrespect and betray EVERYTHING about this country and its people ALREADY.
Not luck at all. The republican party painted themselves into this corner based on their several-decade strategy of painting themselves as the stupidity, bigotry, racism, and anti-science party. For a very long time this worked great for them, because it allowed them to scoop up all the people who are alienated or outright harmed by liberal policies (saving the environment is nifty, but really can locally impact jobs) - and for a very long time they never actually had to keep one word of their rhetoric. It was enough to rile up an anti-liberal population, position themselves as the anti-liberal party, and coast in on the fact that in a two-party system, the enemy of my enemy is my constituent. And thus they were able to completely ignore those constituents and pursue a platform entirely almost based on shunting money to themselves and their friends and donors, with only token pushes to halt progress and destroy their constituents’ enemies.
And then, one day, a wild baby appeared! Despite being largely incompetent at everything, the Trumpster Fire does have one true, honed skill - being a huge loud bombastic liar. And the republican base had been specifically groomed to be manipulated by liars, particularly ones that can successfully portray a racist, a bigot, an anti-science person, and an idiot - in other words, one who could successfully appeal to all the dark sides that had been the party’s bedrock for years.
The republicans may have trained their army, but Donnie-boy was better at rallying it - the republicans were too accustomed to actually being politicians, and were still playing chess while Donny was kicking over the board and screaming.
So that got him through the primary. To beat Hillary, he needed a confluence of events: Bernie Sanders splitting the democratic party. DNC shenanigans being outed. The decades-long smear/outright lie campaign against Hillary that was in place before he got there. And of course Russia, and…whatever it did.
With the exception of any russian interference that may have occurred, Trump had relatively little impact on the factors that hampered Hillary. The only thing he may have personally done what toss more logs on the smear/lie campaign, which was up his alley, since it required a lot of lying and deranged ranting. So he did do some of that - though most of the work was already done for him by the existing smear campaign that preceded his arrival. And even then he only barely skinned out a victory - while simultaneously losing popularly.
So yeah, while it’s a little amazing that Hillary (or anyone) managed to lose at all to him, it’s not that amazing at all that Trump managed to win the republican vote. Because it had been trained to vote for the worst person possible. It certainly had nothing to do with his so-called political skills - even if he had any, which he doesn’t.
What was the point you were trying to make again?
Yep. When they utter their Big Lie, call them out on it.
It’s not a protest of the flag. It’s not a protest of the anthem. It’s not a protest against veterans. It’s not a protest against the Constitution. It’s not anti-American, and it’s not unpatriotic.
All the right has are these lies. And a lot of people who weren’t necessarily critics of Trump before this, are noticing.
I’ve always stood. I thought it was MY choice. I guess I’ll sit it out from now on.
It’ll be interesting if Trump manages to single-handedly change the american tradition of standing for the anthem.
verb (used without object)
- to bend the knee or touch one knee to the floor in reverence or worship.
That is clearly what the players were doing.
New poll from Reuters:
53 percent of Americans do not think it is appropriate for the president to comment on “how the NFL and its players conduct themselves during the national anthem.”
57 percent of adults do not think the National Football League should fire players who kneel. This included 61 percent of NFL fans who watch at least a few games per season.
I’m curious what percentage would agree with Trump that Colin Kapaernick’s mother is a bitch.
