Trump Tweets Apparent Call for More U.S. Nuclear Weapons

Actually, yes I supported Hillary Clinton, but that was not my point. My point is that the POTUS doesn’t need stunts like outrageous tweets to garner attention. Anything that the POTUS says or does will get plenty of it. (I get the impression that most presidents look forward to the end of their term and to the idea that they can go back to being a private citizen.)

There’s no going back. You can just get up and go bowling, go get a burger, have a beer. Maybe it isn’t so amazing that any man would want to, but once in a while, a good man does.

Effective in him winning the White House, for one thing.

Remains to be seen. If it does anything to stop the Russians, Chinese and whoever / whatever else, and makes them reconsider their actions or behavior, then I’d consider that a massive success.

At the very least it’s got people talking and thinking.

I’m reminded of this skit by SMBC Theater.

Not one of their better ones, but disturbingly relevant.

So, the nuclear deterrent prevents war, huh? Like the death penalty stops people from committing murder. What about that guy who just wants to watch the world burn, or thinks God told him to. Gonna stop him? We get to kill him back, and that’s a comfort?

We will live together, or die. And buffing up your swords and armor does not encourage. We have the courage to kill, nobody can doubt that. Have we the courage to lead?

You’re right. Just look at George W Bush. He’s been pretty good at it.

Think Obama will do the same?

Very droll. And here I was thinking you guys had no sense of humor.

Donald Trump’s tweets won him the White House? Those who voted for Trump were influenced by his tweets?
Trump’s never had easier marks. Of all the people he’s sold bridges to, Republican voters were by far the easiest marks.

Trump’s poll numbers frequently went down after his stupider tweets. He would gradually rise in the polls whenever he would shut up for a while and people didn’t have his idiocy rubbed in their faces.

Your side won Trump. I’m more convinced of it daily.

Every tweet he made, every perceived misstep and foolish thing he said, repeated ad nauseam on your side, let not only people see what it is he was saying, which I have a hard time disagreeing with myself (make America great again) but you babbled on about it endlessly and tediously, every fucking second, that another chunk of people voted him in just to piss you people off they were so sick of hearing you spout.

I don’t know how many Democrats asked me if I’d seen Trump’s latest tweet… ‘Can you believe it? Holy shit! How stupid can you be!’. No idea all the while that I’d long decided on Trump as my candidate. I liked Romney for the same reason - get someone in there that can treat parts of government like the business that it is. Or should be.

Your side that’s so convinced it’s the smarted people in the room not only gave every platform you could to introduce his ideas to anyone and everyone they could (tweets, for one thing), combined with the smarmy know-it-all attitude that presented it mockingly to people who didn’t think parts of it were mock-able or worthy of derision, denied any hope of a landslide or even win for Clinton.

Yes tweets helped.

But I’m getting away from the topic - Tweets and Nuclear arms and Russia and how horrible what he just tweeted was.

Carry on.

No, it’s not. He would be better. He wouldn’t do these things. Even the most diehard Republican is better than Trump.

The only reason to keep Trump around is to hope he picks a non-conservative Supreme Court justice. Once he does that, there is no reason to keep him in office. Unless two justices die, Pence couldn’t do anything bad.

The rhetoric about some conservative being worse that Trump is a part of the problem. Neither Pence nor the other viable candidates for the Republican nomination were worse than Trump.

The only reason they could have been is if they were harder to beat.

I still say we invent some conventry style system, with some bots to arbitrarily praise or demonize Trump. Tell Trump that everyone’s gotten tired of his treats and the news won’t report them.

Then when he complains about making tweets no one sees, treat him like he’s insane.

Yeah, that’s right. Gaslight the fuck out of this asshole. That’s what he’s trying to do to the American public.

Of course we are; we are moving towards authoritarianism, aggression, instability, poverty and national insanity.

And personally I consider it very likely that Trump will use nuclear weapons on someone, probably within the next year. Mecca or Tehran would be my guess. Or if he actually decides to go for his stupid wall Mexico City, when he demands Mexico pay for it and they tell him no.

What I expect will happen is that NATO will collapse thanks to Trump and the Republicans, and they and Europe will form a new alliance aligned against America. Which will be regarded as insane, and an existential threat to the world.

I love how your idea of success here is always a bunch of countries separated by slashes and ends with a “whatever.” It’s seem you’re not too sure of what you want to see happen, just as long as Trump does it. You know, whatever.

The Titanic and Challenger explosion accomplished the same thing, with a lot less lives on the line.

lol. Some are.

I’ll take that as a bet then. My woman against your woman.

Wait a minute…

You have to get a woman first.

Sorry, these childish insults above are infecting my brain. I’m kidding.

On this front I think you actually have a point, and it’s one I hope doesn’t come to pass.

As much as I think the UN is impotent and a non-factor in doing what it’s supposed to do - get people to stop and / or avoid wars - which it can’t do, I think it’s melded and adjusted itself into entity that deserves support. Specifically when it comes to humanitarian objectives.

Just when you were making a modicum of sense… Ok I take that as another bet.

Europe against us? Yeesh.

I’m not a Republican, which means I don’t look at women as slaves to be bartered like cattle.

Nor do I gamble, anyway.

Damn near all the tough guys I’ve known, were only tough until they were called on it and had to “put up or shut up”. It seems to be a regular pattern.

Fair enough. No offense intended.

Just playing with you, you nutty nut you.

I could be wrong about this, I was wrong once, when I thought I had made a mistake.

But this rickety, complex scaffolding wouldn’t hold the weight of a butterfly without collapsing. It sounds like someone who’s heart just isn’t in it anymore. You can’t even convince yourself, much less us, and you’ve stopped trying.

Oh, I don’t doubt you still despise us, sincerity rings there. But you don’t quite believe anymore. You don’t believe he achieved his magnificent success on his own steam, so you look to explain it some other way, even to blame his opponents. Who you don’t even think have the power to change their clothes, much less change a mind.

Been seeing that in glimpses here, people still eager to gloat, and rub our noses in it, but don’t seem all that pleased with what they have done. Buyer’s remorse, maybe? Or the simple drip, drip erosion of common sense?

Obliviously it is since it’s…” Man that is perfect. You just spoke for all republicans for all time with that. Don’t you go anywhere. We’re keeping you here.
About Russia: My suggestion to start is, if you’re donald, to not have your tongue so far up Putin’s ass. A modest beginning. That’s me though.

HeweyLogan: How can you support Trump’s inane twittering? Do you seriously think that our putative enemies are quaking in their boots for what Trump and you think are their violations of treaties? Trump already said he’s not going to honor our own treaties, the treaties defending our allies against those very same enemies. Trump has our own allies worried, he has our own military leadership aghast, and he has idiots like you thinking that his antics are somehow worthwhile. I know I’m in the minority on this, but I believe there’s no way that fool is going to last four years in the presidency. He’ll either get impeached because he’s such a loose cannon that his own party’s reps and senators will vote him out of office or he’ll just quit when he finds out (a) how hard the job of president really is, (b) that he can’t just do and say any fool thing he wants, or © a & b.
