Stage a coup?
Does the world need the federal government in the US to be involved in climate change?
Governments all over the world are still fighting it. State governments in the US can fight it. Private companies can fight it.
Won’t alternative energy still get better even if the US federal government denies it is a problem?
Wait till Trump has Palin on his team then we’ll have even more reason to genuinely scared. I am sick to my stomach ! I knew he was going to win as soon as he ran but people told me not worry ! I am far pass worrying now I am scared shitless !
I hate the cold so Canada wouldn’t work for me.
I know exactly what you mean.
If I’m Hillary, I’m getting the hell out of Dodge!
Today!
I think I’ll just go to bed and pull the covers over my head and stay there for the next four years. Maybe I’ll watch the first State of the Union address for fun, y’know, like a good horror flick.
The economy can take a beating but come back. My fear is Trump starts wars. In particular, nuclear. I have to hope that cooler heads will keep him in check or that if he orders a nuclear strike that the order simply isn’t followed. Can you imagine? I’m hoping that the military disobeys a lawful order. It has come to this. The other thing I fear from a Trump presidency will be a major setback to combating climate change.
Huh? 538 is the only one that called this. Nate Silver endured months of near-ridicule because his model had Clinton average around 65 to 75 percent chance of winning, for months. That means every 3 or 4 times he ran the model, Trump straight out won!. Why do people not get this?
Nearly all the polls were wrong, but the strong uncertainty Nate built into his model was exactly right.
The upside is that there ought to be a increase in market demand for my killer robots.
Trump won’t give the economy a beating. He’ll put a pistol to it’s head and pull the trigger. Several times.
The second reconstruction era is over. The redeemers won. Hopefully it doesn’t take another 90 years to pry them back out.
Well, the stuff a Republican Congress will send a “coasting” Republican president will be pretty bad on its own.
That’s certainly my hope. However, Trump signed on with the devil and promised to pack the Supreme Court with Fundamentalist wet dream judges and hired on Mike Pence as VP. If just the judges come into it, it will suck, but not everything will go to hell. But after being told that he’s an idiot for the thousandth time by the legislature and every study group in the land, there’s a strong possibility that Trump will step down and we’ll have a Pence presidency. That’s where everything really goes to shit.
As the leader of the nation, Trump will be crap at dealing with the EU and any country with a woman leader. But he’ll probably be able to deal with the leaders of China, Russia, Mexico, and Turkey like a fish in water. They’ll be best buds. And while that’s creepy, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Of course, that’s also going to turn his base against him, since he’s supposed to go up against China and Mexico. Trump will, instead, bend over for them the instant China offers him a palace full of nubile Asian chicks or Mexico offers to cut him in on their petroleum operation.
But ultimately, these things will make him despicable, not harmful.
Yeah, the existential things are the stuff I’m most concerned about too. The rest will suck, really really suck, but can still be undone. I’m hoping on the climate change side that more other nations and businesses are given impetus to do more.
And who will Trump supporters blame if that happens? (I say “if” because when I think about it, I’m STILL not sure what Trump is actively going to do or accomplish about the economy, even with a Republican Congress.
I said the primary. I don’t know if I can find the sites right now but there were several primaries he got totally wrong.
He also gave Trump a 2% chance of winning the primary.
That’s what I’ve been wondering as well. It isn’t like they’ll be able to say that Congress obstructed Trump’s policy.
Look I hate to Godwinize but … you have to blame somebody right. It certainly can’t be that Trump is Trump?
If you remember, one of his brilliant ideas to reduce the debt was to renege on the national debt.
Do you have T-bills? How does 25 cents on the dollar sound? Take it or leave it.
He walked it back later but I don’t trust the fucker.
Sorry, I misunderstood your point. I though you were saying “538 is so bad (in general), they even got the primary wrong.”
Carry on.
What will happen now, if Trump is our president? I predict this.
Well, that’s part of the “I’m not sure what he’s actually going to do” statement. In fact, I’m not 100% sure what he CAN do, even with Congress on his side.
Maybe this had to happen sooner or later. Maybe it’s better that it happened now so we can deal with it, instead of letting it fester. We’ll see. At the least, this might draw sharper contrasts between red and blue states.
I am so very glad that I am retired, single, and a renter.
It is so easy for me to move back out of the country.
I was embarrassed to be an American when Bush was re-elected, but this is so much worse.
I don’t belong here anymore.
