I wish, but that won’t happen for the same reason his sentence for his felony convictions was literally nothing. He’s the President of the United States.
We need a country to issue an arrest warrant for Trump. And then they tell him he’s invited to a big party where there will be a parade in his honor and he’ll be given a prize that has a big gold statue.
It seems one of us, either you or me, has not been following the news the last years. But he is good at lining his own pockets, that I will admit. Plus he got his father a presidential pardon. And he bought a waterfront lot on a golf island from Julio Iglesias for lousy 30 million US$.
Stalin also got things done. Saying that Kushner is able to close deals doesn’t mean that I’d nominate him to be the next Dalai Lama or think that he’s had a positive impact.
In general, his impact has largely been to make Donald Trump the greatest president ever for the nation of Israel.
In general, I respect that Israel doesn’t deserve the hate that the Islamic world has given them over the last (almost) century. But I’m not sure that they deserve quite the level of love that they’ve gotten from the Trump administrations - and particularly not when that’s pretty well the only positive impact on a country that the Trump administrations have ever had. And certainly not since they went pro-famine after October 7.
In fairness, Trump withdrew his membership to Carney after he said he would join, failed to show up for the inaugural meeting, and publicly complained Canada was not going to be paying $1B without much stronger clarification of where the moneys would go and what the board actually might do. It was not just the Davos speech. Canadians are deeply upset. They wanted to join Trump in going to pieces.
I know comparing IRL regimes to the one in George Orwell’s 1984, is hardly the most original criticism but that’s just too on the nose. A Board Of Peace full of the worse warmongers imaginable. A Health and Human Services dept that is actively trying to make humans as unhealthy as possible.
I’d say it’s deliberate except there is no way any of these dickheads have actually read 1984.
It’s naked grifting to be sure. What amazes me is that he got as many as he could to pony up a billion dollars each. If indeed they actually paid. It’s all to make Donny rich. Any talk of him using it to influence world affairs after 2028 is delusional. He will either be in memory care or full of embalming fluid by then. The BOP will never do anything of consequence and as soon as Donny is out of the picture it will suffer a much deserved disbandment- with Donny’s heirs pocketing the cash of course.
Per the Time article, you don’t have to pay a billion dollars to join. It’s just that if you join, you are only a member for up to three years unless “The Chairman” (Trump) decides you can stay longer. Now, “up to three years or longer if Trump says you can stay” is kind of meaningless; it’s basically saying “you can only stay on at Trump’s whim” no matter what.
The exception is that if you contribute a billion US dollars (or more) then you are buying a permanent seat. But you have to pay within the first year of membership (in other words, you are pressured to pay up quick or else).
“Each Member State shall serve a term of no more than three years from this Charter’s entry into force, subject to renewal by the Chairman. The three-year membership term shall not apply to Member States that contribute more than USD $1,000,000,000 in cash funds to the Board of Peace within the first year of the Charter’s entry into force,” the draft reportedly says.
So, it’s possible that nobody has paid yet, or ever will pay. Or maybe every member has paid. I doubt he’d ever be transparent about that, or if he gives that information there’s no way to know if it’s actually true.
Thanks for that clarification and fighting my ignorance. But if Donny isn’t getting a few to pay, what the hell is he in it for? He surely doesn’t give a flying fuck about peace.
I wonder if the phrase “Chairman Trump” is going to be pushed by his toadies, perhaps even before the next election?
I expect Trump will be selling a bridge next. ![]()
Where does the $billion go, and how does that sit with the “emoluments clause” I’ve seen mentioned here? Might one suppose the BoP (if it ever really materialises) has a lot of meetings in Trump properties (at what level of cost)?
So many questions…
They have no plans to answer those questions, and Congress has no plans to ask them. Don’t bother looking to that law to do anything.
I take this as an admission that Trump knows he has less than a year left to live.
What is he going to do with several billion dollars anyway? All the money in the world and he can neither bring Jeffrey Epstein back nor make him go away.
He wants to be able to threaten to expel them anytime their country enacts a policy that displeases him, especially important if the Supremes actually shoot down his tariffs.
el donald’s term as president is over in three years. Maybe he’s trying to promote himself to king of the world or something after that.
Musk is a doofus.
- Elon Musk cracked a joke about President Donald Trump’s newly announced Board of Peace that appeared to fall flat with the audience
- “I heard about the formation of the peace summit, and I was like, is that p‑i‑e‑c‑e?” Musk said during his Thursday, Jan. 22, talk at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland He added piece of Greenland, or piece of Venezuela. HA HA
It’d be hilarious if that’s what he thinks this will be. The minute he no longer controls the US military, every one of those “board members” will start ignoring him. The only reason anyone would join this thing is to curry favour with president Trump. Regular Donald Trump is nothing to them.
Yes Elon, that is exactly what he meant. When he called Greenland a “piece of ice” he was referring to it the same way he referred to his daughter as a “piece of ass”.
