The analogy is the many seemingly invulnerable multinational corporations who took a lot of things for granted, were managed arrogantly and incompetently, and are now either gone completely or in a few cases surviving with government handouts and are a mere shadow of their former selves. The supreme irony of the MAGA slogan is that no president – in modern history at least – has done more to undermine the USA, both domestically and internationally, than the Orange Peril, and the idiots who support him are too fucking stupid to see it. There are more blue and white collar layoffs coming throughout the nation as universities shutter their doors, state agencies get severely reduced due to state income issues, manufacturing companies laying off due to reduced demand for products, mortgage foreclosures go up, etc. We aren’t going to be rocking by fourth of July like the Dipshit in Chief’s moronic son-in-law claimed.
The trump admin is going all-out to remove regulations on business in an effort to goose the stock market, which will lead to a classic Repub boom-and-bust result like the Great Recession of 2008. In fact, the trump admin recently successfully rolled back the Volcker Rule, which was put in place specifically to prevent the excesses that led to the 2008 financial crisis. It’s like the captain of the Titanic insisting on full speed to make his numbers look good, despite the fact he’s been warned there are icebergs ahead.

It’s more like the Captain of the Titanic after the collision. He’s been told of a large hole in the bow below the water line and has ordered “Full Speed Ahead” to try to get to the harbor before the ship sinks. Harbor’s 2 days sail away and at the rate he’s sinking now he’s got about 1 hour left.
Meanwhile every other actual ship Captain understands that the faster you go, the faster you ram water into the hole and the faster you sink. Not Captain DJT though; he knows better.
