I’d actually read her name for years as TunaDiva, and ‘heard’ it as Tuna Diver. (Well, you would, wouldn’t you? It’s not like TunaDiva makes any sense.)
This went on for a couple of years, until my attention was brought to it in a similar thread to this one. Until then, I’d assumed ‘he’ was a commerical fisherman. :smack:
I’ve got the Tuba bit down pat now, but I still ‘hear’ the second bit as ‘diver’…
I gues you could count me as one of those. My daughter is a nurse in a Neurological ICU (NICU) and she sometimes talks about things that happened in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) so I assumed that your username referred to that. What does it mean?
Back to the OP, In the intellectual part of my brain I know that the last part of dear Tuba’s name is pronounced dee-va, but my eyes always see it the other way.
I think that I have heard the term “scuba diver” often enough that I try to make TubaDiva fit with ScubaDiver.
If I saw someone with the handle TunaDiver, I would not think it was a he or a fisherman. But I applaud your innocence; it’s not always easy being this sick.
