Okay, best response I’ve seen so far.
Why do so many GOPers look like living dolls?
This is many years ago now (20-ish) when I talked to my employer about their non-compete clause and my ability to find new work. HR told me that it was mostly to protect company secrets. E.G. I can’t work for Bell Labs then move to North Korea House of Technology and basically give them the expertise and trade secrets that I learned at Bell Labs. HR said a non-compete clause cannot make it so you cannot work.
I can’t imagine what “secrets” a talking head has that ruins some advantage their previous employer enjoys.
IANAL…just wondering.
In entertainment its not about secrets. It’s about the marketability of personalities.
I apologize if it has already been said. There are several hundred posts, and Tucker Carlson doesn’t deserve the time I am about to give him…
I was trained as a journalist, and even plied the trade for a few years. I follow the news, and I am VERY critical of today’s reporting standards, everywhere. FOX is a heap, but it isn’t the only one.
Tucker Carlson’s greatest damages to this country will be felt for decades. What he has done, trading the integrity of the trade against ratings and money, and thereby eroding the trust of the consumers of media, is basically insurmountable.
Fuck him.
It’s so much worse than that.
The Internet That Tucker Carlson Built
The former Fox News host didn’t just fuel far-right politics in the US. His rants have fed conspiracy theorists and extremists all over the world.Tucker Carlson isn’t just an American problem. He’s a dark spot tracking across the global internet. His evening slot was Fox’s most watched show, pulling in 3.5 million viewers a night. But clips of his show posted on social media have had a far greater reach, appearing across antivax groups and globalist conspiracy theory groups like QAnon. He has had a particular hold on international far-right movements, which have latched onto Carlson’s amplification of the white supremacist “great replacement” theory—the idea that white people are being deliberately and systematically replaced by non-white people. The narratives he’s pushed have been picked up and amplified by Russian disinformation campaigns across Europe and the US and used as propaganda tools by authoritarians. - SOURCE
So yeah, fuck him. He could have been a trust-fund kid and enjoyed life to the max. Instead, he chose to make the world a much worse place. He should be reviled.
Correct. All he has done has been bad for our society.
What is tragic is that his acolytes are dumb to the damage.
As I said elsewhere, there are only 12 Cylon models.
And yet even some of them were good and not evil. I don’t think you can say the same about the GOPers.
California either bans non-compete clauses or as a policy does not enforce them (I thought they were banned, but the Times article said otherwise.) Hasn’t hurt Silicon Valley a bit. That doesn’t keep companies for suing someone who really took proprietary info to a new job.
I won’t continue the topic by speculating on why companies like these clauses. Everyone can guess.
Based on the article you posted it sounds like Carlson tried to get them to tell their clients to lie but none of them actually did.
Botox.
A non-compete clause that bars you from your former industry does not bar you from working - you can apply at Starbucks, you can apply at Walmart, you can apply at McDonalds…
Two Twitter rumors (can’t find the tweets again):
-
Tucker was not fired, just taken off the air. He’s under contract through either 2024 or 2025, so no one else can hire him and put him on the air. Could be he hired the fancy lawyer to get him out from under that, since adulation is his drug (similar to Trump).
-
Fox HR has a dossier of ‘oppo’ research on him, and they are using it in a sort of MAD standoff to prevent him from telling tales on them.
Rolling Stone seems to have this one:
The fact that they have 8 sources who are willing to talk about it is itself interesting. I wonder if that’s common in big businesses?
Man, when these people turn on each other, the shit is gonna be lit!
(as the hipsters say)
" Tucker Carlson’s firing from Fox News came after he used vulgar language to describe a network executive, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Carlson described a senior Fox News executive as a C-word in a text message obtained by lawyers as part of a defamation lawsuit between the network and Dominion Voting Systems, according to the Journal, which like Fox is part of the Murdoch media empire."
“Communists?”
