But firing TC now can’t make Fox un-liable for whatever TC did related to the e.g. Grossman lawsuit or any as-yet unopened can of older worms.
It sure can cut TC off from causing further harm to Fox. With the implication that whatever Fox decided was intolerable, it was ongoing up to roughly Friday.
Ref these latest news tidbits, TC may have had no formal “warning” or even informal scuttlebutt that his firing was imminent. But assuming he has any self-awareness at all, he certainly ought to have figured there’d be blowback from the resolution of the Dominion case. Heck, there’s been internal blowback since the discovery phase started.
Sorry if it’s already been asked and answered, but what happens to all that Jan 6 security footage that Kevin McCarthy turned over to Carlson? Does that stay with Fox?
Hmmm. I’m starting to admire the Germans attracted to Hitler in 1933–at least they were riled about important stuff, like inflation and the Versailles treaty, not personal grievances and culture wars.
Sure but that concedes that you don’t need to be alpha for that audience to perceive you as alpha.
As I say, I’m not sure the extent to which Trump even plays the alpha dawg; he spends almost all of his time complaining about being treated unfairly and how mean the press is.
But, I don’t think our positions are so far apart. I can agree that Trump is a bully, and for some people that looks like alpha male to them. And I would agree that Tucker may not be able to do that.
On the rare occasions that Tucker is confronted with an opposing view, he does the fake laugh thing then tries just talking over the other person. So perhaps he would fold under the schoolyard name-calling that Trump will bring?
But then again, there was no benefit to Tucker attempting to debate anyone…his audience certainly don’t want to hear his ideas get challenged. So I’d say it’s still unknown.
But it was Carlson’s comments about Fox management, as revealed in the Dominion case, that played a role in his departure from Fox, a person familiar with the company’s thinking told The Post.
“Do the executives understand how much credibility and trust we’ve lost with our audience?” Carlson wrote to a colleague in a message a day after Fox, like other media outlets, called the election for Joe Biden. It was a sentiment echoed by others at Fox in the fall of 2020, as even network officials who disbelieved Trump’s election-fraud conspiracy theories fretted that countering them strongly would alienate their conservative viewers.
In another message, Carlson referred to management with an expletive: “Those f-----s are destroying our credibility.” He later wrote: “A combination of incompetent liberals and top leadership with too much pride to back down is what’s happening.”

Trump did acknowledge that Tucker said those things but he forgave him still needed to use him at Fox. It would be great if he turns against him now and calls him a big loser on Newsmax. MAGA loves Tucker but Trump can turn them against him as easily as he breathes.
But I doubt that will happen. Trump hates Fox even more so he’ll probably praise Tucker for getting away from those losers. And the fact that Trump could go either way on the matter must be giving Tucker heartburn right now. I wonder if Trump is taking his calls?
