ETA: Plus, First on Five!
Wow, you folks are indeed gabby! LOL I had to go back to yesterday to catch up! I’ve been doing turkey day chores a bit at a time. I’ve got sweet N.O.T’s baked and eggs hard boiled, as well as the pumpkin pie done (I use the pre-made crusts too - the Pillsbury ones are, I think, made with lard hence they taste delicious LOL). I don’t know why, but there was way too much filling for the pie, so I just filled up some mini-muffin tins with the custard and the pie must taste good, 'cause I’ve already sampled them and woo boy were they tasty! Will make the lime-pineapple salad tonight (my daughter will, that is!), and tomorrow will be time enough for green bean casserole and cornbread dressing before the turkey goes into the countertop roaster. We tried that last year and it was really a bonus - left the oven free to cook the other side dishes. Oh yea, sweet potato casserole also. Gah, too much food, I know, but on the bright side, there will be plenty to eat for days.
I hope to be able to catch a bit of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade tomorrow, between preparing things for the turkey feast. At least NBS has -thoughtfully- decided to air it twice!
I’ll be back tomorrow, but Happy Thanksgiving to all who are traveling, and safe journeys to you all.
Good grief - page FIVE on Wednesday?? Motor mouth Mumpers!!
We ran to Ledo’s for supper and now we’re home. I’m thinking I need to shed the jeans and don a fuzzy robe. After all, it’s dark out there!!
Dunno if I’ll be able to post tomorrow. If not, travelers, be safe, and feasters, use your napkins! Mumpers are classy, after all!
MWAH!!
I think it is because we like talking about food.
I had an encounter today with the dumbest human to work a customer service desk at a supermarket (not a Wally*World, BTW). The setup: I had to buy some oranges, sherbet, and cough meds for VWife. She called me at the store to remind me to get Powerball tickets for tonight’s drawing, because the jackpot is in the 9 figures range. One draw is $2, for you furriners.
Me: “Hi. I want 5 Powerball picks.” I lay out $10 for her.
Customer Service Droid: “You want six?” She must be trying to upsell me.
M: “Okay, I’ll take six.” I have 2 extra ones, so I went along with her. She prints a ticket with three draws.
M: “You printed only 3 set of numbers.”
CSD: "Yeah, each one is $2.
M: “I said I wanted 5, and I got out a $10 bill to cover it. You talked me into six, so I got out 2 dollars more.”
CSD: “You wanted 5. They’re $2 each, so I can’t give you five. Six means you get 3 numbers.”
M: “No, I wanted 5 numbers, which you upped to 6. 2 times 5 is ten, 2 times six is $12. That might be the reason I have $12 out on the counter.”
We go round and round for about two minutes, and she tries to explain 3rd grade arithmetic to me.
M: “Listen, 2 times three is six. Add another three numbers, and the total is $12, WHICH IS WHAT I WANT TO SPEND ON THE LOTTERY. NOW PRINT ME THREE G__ D___ED MORE NUMBERS!”
Pigheaded and stupid is no way to go through life.
Well, no one will be home but Gordie, but there’s kibble on the rolling bin.
Irked, came home. Dinner was Moroccan chikkin boobs, curried rice, and salit with Greek style dressing. No Møøse was harmed in the making of this dinner.(Although a MøøLlaostemturdurkenarrowird would be epic!:D)
How to cook a turkey.
Talked with Mrs. HFUN. She told me that Mr. HFUN had been having some issues so he went to the cardiologist. He’s fine, just needs some lifestyle adjustments. But thank God that went to the doctor instead of being extremely stubborn about such things like his brother was.
I made some key chains tonight and straightened up the kitchen a bit. Soon I’ll be heading off to bed.
Don’t know if I mentioned this, but the HFUNs want me to stay late and do midnight black friday shopping with them. Probably not going to happen, but you never know…
I have plenty. Come on over.
My first mmp post.
I am 6,000 miles away from home and will have turkey with all the trimmings. Tradition in this family is to have kielbasa and sour kraut, and a radish salad. Both are favorites of mine. I don’t think I have had turkey day with my family in more than 25 years.
Hi, Olive! My dad called tonight, and his own Thanksgiving plans got cancelled due to his lady-friend’s sickness. I think this one is actually just a FRIEND, which is weird for him. Which means if he’s smart, he’ll turn it into something more.
ANYhoo, he’s making latkes, which his mother always made, and I really miss those. I’ve tried a couple of times and it just doesn’t really work, though I suspect I leave too much moisture in the mix for them to be proper potato pancakes.
Tomorrow, we shall be clearing out our fridge, finding a new home for all the clothes piled on the couch, and frantically washing anything we can find, since the washer and dryer will be joining the fridge, couch and computer desks in storage on Friday morning. And then tomorrow evening is dinner at MrTao’s sister’s. My wild-rice cilantro salad with shrimp is yummy to me, but I’m not sure it’s pretty enough to bring tomorrow. I may have to just keep it here for myself
Sleep sounds good, soon; Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope it’s full of food and friends and family where applicable
Taomist, we have plans for two more special dinners sauerbeef with potato dumplings then red beet soup with potato pancakes. More exciting to me than turkey day!
Jeepers I have a last minute invite to a friend’s family gathering. That means I will escape my roomies’ adventures in turkey making, but will have a lot of strangers wondering if my friend and I are more than just friends. The answer is… complicated.
What the heck… I fell asleep watching TV, woke up because it was loud and The Exorcist II is on.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the US mumpers!
(Well, all of you in the Eastern and Central time zones. The rest will have to come back and read this in either 10 more minutes, or an hour and a quarter.)
Happy Thanksgiving!
Have fun on your turkey day, I’ll be over later for dinner, naturally I’ll have to swing by and collect Nava on the way but we’ll try not to be late…
I am off over to my previous office to do something related to the upcoming open day. Not sure what, probably stuffing envelopes or something equally riveting. We are supposed to be printing out customised module evaluation forms but I’ve been told just now that the system is wrong somehow, and we have to bin all the ones we’ve done.
There are going to be some very unhappy people around because these are meant to be distributed next week.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Actually been up for a while. 'Tis 42 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 74, so nice Turkey Day weather.
Turkey is roastin’ away as I post. Da cave is smellin’ turkeyriffic! Makin’ me hongry!
I suppose I should go feed rumbly tummy and mayhaps even purtify since I’m up and got stuff cookin’. I wouldn’t even think of goin’ back to sleep with Mr. Turkey in the oven.
Anywho, everyone travelin’ be safe. To all my Amurrkin Mumper Friends…
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
GOBBLE! GOBBLE! GOBBLE!
To everyone else… Happy Thursday!
This made me smile.
I’m up early and off on a top secret mission that maybe I’ll tell you about when I’m done.
Have a great day everyone!
Is this music playin’ in the background while you are on your secret mission StickyBuns?
Happy Thanksgiving!
And Happy Thursday to all y’all furriners.
Up and caffeinated, since there was elbow licking at 0530, and the singing of the song of their people at 0715.
